>The Republican governor’s plan would impose new fees on doctors, hospitals and employers.

The prognosis for universal health care in California is grim this year, and experts say a failure could set back similar efforts nationwide for years to come. Something good has taken place during the Schwarzenegger administration after all. Cool...

Thank God it’s failing. If the government really wants universal coverage, cut checks to the poor so they can buy private insurance. Don’t create a new state monster, and force me to give up my coverage of choice.

We must not make health insurance mandatory. Instead we must continue to allow illegals, deadbeats, and the otherwise unfortunate to crowd our ERs and then laugh our asses off when someone when the true emergency victim dies because of the long wait. (/sarcasm off)

No Republican is forcing you to give up coverage. They will just not allow you to not pay and then attempt to mooch off the state.

The governor says his plan is fair because it would spread the burden.Yeah, spread the burden of paying for more handouts for the parasites among people who work hard for a living and are trying to provide for their own families.
No thanks, Arnold, you European socialist.

Oddly enough, I agree with Sheila Kuehl - I think a government-run health plan is just bad for California this year. Better hold off and wait to see what happens with the economy. If that stays the same or worsens, California would have to address a multi-billion dollar budget deficit next year. Putting in billions of new spending in the budget is akin to throwing a concrete anchor on a drowning man. "Do No Harm." The issue can always be revisited next year.

California government spends more than it takes in and now it wants to cover health care? If they were honest, the politicians would propose a massive tax increase. But the votes aren't there for it.

Right. And while they are at it they should just outlaw global warming, then we do not have to give up our SUVs.

Hey Pencil! Where’s your pusher?? You’re pretty sourcastick, alright!!! (we already voted to cut that crappola out of our schools and emergency rooms, but your delightful Democraps wouldn’t leave it alone! So shove off!)

No, and I don’t think there will be. Perata is mad at the Assembly and he’s looking to shut things down early - like by the 11th. I think (crossing fingers) this is dead until next year.
The AARP have been flooding their members with automated calling machines where the person can push a button and be connected to legislative offices to whine about needing someone to pay for their healthcare.

Why? This thing of the Governor’s doesn’t even pertain to Seniors, does it? What’s the AARP doing that for? Good Grief!!!
