Republican Fred Thompson, hoping to solidify his ever-changing inner circle for a Republican presidential bid, has named strategist Todd Harris to head his communications department.
Harris, a former aide to Sen. John McCain and California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger, will replace Linda Rozett who left the fledgling campaign operation earlier this week, according to a Thompson aide who spoke on condition of anonymity.
Harris served as deputy communications director to McCain during the Arizona senator's 2000 presidential race.
He was communications director to then-Gov. Jeb Bush for the 2002 gubernatorial campaign in Florida.
Harris worked for Schwarzenegger from 2003 to 2005. He is currently a consultant in Washington.
Thompson, an all-but-declared candidate, sidelined his campaign-manager-in-waiting, Tom Collamore, and watched a few other aides follow him out the door amid consternation inside the operation about the active role of Thompson's wife, Jeri.
He is expected to formally launch his candidacy shortly after Labor Day.
Communications means public relations or flacking to the press. He will have little or nothing to do with Fred Thompson’s stand on the issues, anotherwords he’s a technician. Who cares what campaigns he has worked on before as a flack? If this were the campaign manager or a political advisor, I’d join you in banging my head, but it’s not!
Ohhh, Yahhh
Please, please make it stop. That still gives me nightmares.

So you’d prefer a campaign manager who was hesitant, reluctant to make changes even if circumstances demanded them, somebody who’ll just “go along to get along” and keep a staffer in place even though the manager is uncomfortable with that staffer.
Have you ever competed for a position or for that matter, run a business? Managed pople?
Ron Fournier.....laughable.
That'd still be better than my first thought -- Bev Harris.

Explain your justification for that remark, other than blatant jealousy....
The above excerpt contains a cleverly-hidden clue. Find the clue, put your thinking-cap on, and see if you can't answer your own question.
“Oh, thank goodness ... I was thinking Katherine Harris when I saw the headline. Heart attack! Heart attack!”
Well, so do I. And if a person isn’t working out and my business would be enhanced or my operation function better by the efforts of somebody else, I wouldn’t hesistate to make that decision or change.
We don’t know the reasons Rosette left, could be any number of them. She’s a professional and not some junior employee that must be tutored and brought along.
Yet you snipe at a personnel decision made by the campaign chairman who undoubtedly had his reasons. Your remarks on the Fred threads show your real agenda quite clearly.
This guy worked for Jeb? That’s good enough for me!
a sarcasm tag would have made things easier, Stoopy.
I think the writer means "some condiments on a hot dog."
And since when is "hot dog" one word?
