YORK A couple having sex on a Super Spiral ride at Yorks Wild Animal Kingdom horrified a mother with young children who witnessed the act at Maines largest zoo and amusement park, say police.
As a result, Adrian Levy, 26 a native of Jamaica and amusement park employee is charged with one count of indecent conduct, said York Police Sgt. Tom Baran.
Wild Kingdom general manager Amy Wheeler said Levy, a ride operator, was simply dirty dancing with a girl and was not charged by police on amusement park grounds. He was however, fired immediately and sent home, she said.
Police were called to the Route 1 amusement park the evening of August 24 and after interviewing witnesses, charged Levy, who is in the country on a work visa, with the class E misdemeanor. Baran said the park was open for business when the alleged crime occurred and officers charged only Levy because hes an employee, shes not.
Both are adults and the act was consensual, said Baran.
The complainant had young children who observed the incident, said the police sergeant. It is a serious incident, its very inappropriate and its against the law.
try rolling them in flour and looking for the wet spot...
I think being "horrified" in such a situation would frighten and confuse the children and serve no actual purpose. I really doubt an adult woman in our culture was "horrified" by the sight of two people having sex, and that her and the presses use of the term were the kind of hyperbole that the great American hand-wringers are prone to, and it will rub off on the kids. People who are "horrified" by situations seldomly act rational in the face of them.
See my #22.

"who is in the country on a work visa"
What do you think?
"Show me just what Mohammed brought that was new, and there you will find things only evil and inhuman, such as his command to spread by the sword the faith he preached." - Manuel II Palelologus
Maybe she was horrified though. I mean sex outside of a bedroom could be disturbing enough to witness it in plain daylight. Add to this her young children are with her. I would stand behind the “horrified” term.
Also maybe she was “horrified” as this dirty dancing/sexual act might have looked like rape to her. That could also be why they had to define the act as “consentual”.
Trust me, Joe, she was horrified.
Never horrified me to see it.
Well, it WAS Wild Animal Kingdom, after all...
"Nowadays, the two are synonymous!"
He was “sent home” but did he really leave for Jamaica?
I’m in no way condoning what the couple was doing...(I find more and more that I need to clearly qualify things I’ve already repeated upwards of eight times on here). Perhaps she was horrified. I’m simply saying that, just like those annoying PSAs I have to listen to about “don’t lose your temper because your kids will think it’s ok,” I think people ought to use a little more discretion about teaching our kids to be drama queens. If this mom is sending her kids to a public school (which, statistically speaking, she probably is) I would hope her “horror” also gets focused on the sixth-grade sex ed instructor...the kids will almost certainly be exposed to just about as graphic a depiction as they recieved at the amusement park.
I thought these people with work visas were here to do “high tech” or specialized jobs. Is there really no American around who knows how to operate an amusement park ride?
That is the most reasonable reply thus far...and yet I think if that was the fact, remaining rational and keeping a level head would have been in the best interests of the woman, her children and the victim.
BTW, I'm not saying I've never been horrified or I've always been able to cowboy up through every situation I've eveer been in. It's precisely because I haven't that I can attest to the fact that when the person in charge (in this case, mom) overreacts, panic quickly infects those about them (in this case the kids), and seldom does it do much good for anyone involved.
They need to save that s-— for the Tunnel of Love!
Um, since when does their employment status have ANYTHING to do with whether or not a crime was committed? This cop is an idiot. If he's smart, this kid will raise some sort of equal protection defense and wriggle out of the charges.
