Islam is fiirst and foremost....a religion and THAT is why it must be protected in the U.S.

Just so happens that a big part of Islam addresses how followers are supposed to live their lives in accordance with the religion. Do this. Don’t do that. Give of yourself. Don’t live materially.

Sounds familiar.... These are the good things in Islam....but just as with some religious political movements in the U.S. that try to regulate my behaviors that they deem as “bad” by legislating them, it does not belong in the U.S. government or ANY free government. I don’t care if we have muslims IN our government, but I do care if they try to legislate my behaviors.

Before anyone goes there. I also know of the violent passages in the Qu’ran. I also know of violent passages in other religious books too. Difference is, certain other religions have reformed....something Islam needs to do to bring it past the 17th century.

Wrong. Show me the warfare doctrines of these "other religions."

We'll see the difference real quick.

Really? Are you that sure?

CAIR’s founder has argued the Quran should replace the Constitution as the highest authority in the land. The group’s director of communications, moreover, has expressed his desire to see the U.S. become an Islamic state. ( http://www.worldnetdaily.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=32341 )

American Open University supports Sharia, or Islamic law. And its founder and chairman, Jaafar Sheikh Idris, has denounced the U.S system of democracy as “the antithesis of Islam” and argued no man has the right to make laws outside Allah’s laws expressed in the Quran. (American Open University, is a “distance-learning” center based in Alexandria, Va., and known to local law enforcement as “Wahhabi Online.”)

“Difference is, certain other religions have reformed....something Islam needs to do to bring it past the 17th century.”

The thing is that until the mid to late 1980s, Islam *was* reforming itself in the U.S., at least in a de facto sort of way.

For example, in 1980 in Dearborn Michigan, despite its huge Arabic Muslim population, it was rare to see women wearing headgear. Growing up, my next door neighbor was a Muslim, married to an Irish Catholic. They had several kids, they went to the Mosque, and they had huge parties with beer and wine. This is just one example.

Even in Dearborn there are still “assimilated” Muslims who worship the way they want, support their country, and wave flags on July 4th.

Sadly, some knuckledraggers would have us believe that this is just some kind of ruse on their part and we have to step on them as hard as we do on the extremists. Can you think of any better way to create more extremists?

Islam is a cult. If leaving it gets a death sentence, its a cult.
