Why Senator Larry Craig is right!
TownHall.com ^ | 08.29.07 | Kevin McCullough

Senator Larry Craig is either incoherent or incompetent – or both. His press conference on Tuesday afternoon was exactly the wrong thing to do - on nearly every level. And I for one do not believe that most of his story holds.

Save this one item, when he stated clearly, "I am not gay!"

I'm sure there was no merriment whatsoever in his life the preceding number of hours up to the press conference.

If he meant that was "not homosexual" that too is also likely.

Homosexuality is not a state of defined being. Rather on the best science man has gathered we understand it to be a series of emotions, feelings, desires, choices, and most importantly behavior.

He has people around him who will help him beat this problem. Only God can change him and he has a lot of Godly friends who will stand with him as he battles this. Didn’t take you long to find some Christian to bash.

That’s just plain silly. Why would anyone choose to be homosexual if they weren’t? Let’s start with that question and then go from there. The assumption, of course, is that you would even entertain having a rational discussion in the first place.

Larry Craig is gay. Not that there’s anything wrong with that.

Why don't you complain when it's a Muslim I "bash"?

Gay or sick, same difference.

He needs to get off his addictions, with meds. and/or sexual therapy, and/or self restraint.

I think both of you are correct. I think there are a small % who are “hormonally challenged” and thus, born that way; and for the vast majority, it is a learned behavior.

Why would anyone choose to be homosexual if they weren’t?

To satisfy a pleasure sensation. To have power over someone else. Because they were taught or coerced by others. Because they were molested, because some in society have lied to them.

It is a behavior, there is no denying that. The cause of the behavior is many. Taking drugs, drinking, lying, stealing are all behaviors. Homo erotica is not a race religion or gender.

Do you have a rational thought? I think you have bought into all the lies that have been given to you and that you have not been thinking rationally.

"I mean of all places, bathrooms are odd enough but airport restrooms are really busy places at all hours."

For whatever reason, bathrooms have been meeting places for gays seeking "anonymous" sexual encounters for a long time. The rest area bathrooms on Interstate Highways, at least the ones that gays designated as "meeting" places, go back to the early '70's, perhaps before that, and have been a problem for the State Police to manage to keep free of gay sexual activity.

Exactly so. This is actually a pretty radical statement, undermining the normal classification of all humans as either heterosexual or homosexual. Despite the bisexual types and homosexuality practiced by some opportunistically (when confined in prison for instance), the world insists on this whole gay/straight divide. It makes the world safer, easier to parse.

"Gay" includes many things that perhaps Craig doesn't like or want to be. But that doesn't mean he isn't susceptible to some temptation in a men's room.

He should resign though. Men over 20 (let alone over 50) who can't behave in a restroom without sexually harassing someone trying to use a toilet shouldn't be trusted in the U.S. Senate.

You may have a good heart and want to give this guy every benefit of the doubt. But you fail to address the most cogent aspect to this whole sordid mess. Imagine you are Mr. Craig. You are a US Senator with community standing. And you are married with children. There have been homosexual allegations throughout your adult life. There is an ongoing newspaper campaign to out you as a homosexual.

Do you not think you would make d*** sure to avoid putting yourself in a compromising position? I would hope the answer is obvious.

So, in the midst of this controversy, you, the good Senator from Idaho, goes into an airport restroom and gets collared for lewd behavior. Then you flash your Senator business card and the arresting officer agrees to change the charge to disorderly conduct or some such. You grab at this like a drowning man to a life buoy. Heck, you don’t even call your lawyer. Then it takes two months for this to come out in the news. In the meantime, you go back to work and resume life with your family as if nothing has happened. You were not even moved by the event to eventually call your lawyer—after you cooled off and began to think rationally again.

Craig’s reaction is no different than Ted Kennedy’s after he drowned Mary Jo Kopechne (not sure if spelling is right).

Craig is a sick puppy. His sickness goes way beyond his homosexuality. Anyone who will risk his community standing and life (Aids) for a quick tryst in a rest room with a stranger of the same sex is sick.

I’ve studied a lot about lesbianism as well. I have a sister with two ex-husbands and four kids who suddenly became lesbian.

Overbearing, emotionally lacking mothers and absent dads seems to be the call on that one.

(thanks for the tip on the other website. I love it)

Well, apparently people, i.e., gay men, were having sex in, or in proximity to, the public restroom in that airport, which is correctly viewed as a crime, and why there were public complaints triggering the police investigation.

What did you find offensive about my comment?
Please don't tell me that you're now defending perverts just because they claim to be Christian!

>>Why would anyone choose to be homosexual if they weren’t<<

In my sister’s case, she constantly seeks attentions and is a control freak. She has found a woman who likes to be controlled and feeds her Munchausen Syndrome/martyr complex.

It’s always a “look at me” situation and it’s even better if she is put upon. Then she can play the martyr all the more.

The so called “scientific literature” in education and social sciences is crap.

A lot of it is crap, and the percentage is getting worse. But there *is* wheat among the chaff. Good studies can be found.

>>You think this of the Cheney family?<<

Could be.

My family seemed like the perfect one. However, my mom was not very physically affectionate, demanded things her own way and used psychological blackmail to correct us. I loved her to pieces but I learned much more from her on how NOT to parent than how TO parent.

My dad worked 80 hour weeks as a salesman. When he came home, he made up home repairs and general chores. We could always sit by him and snuggle, but he wasn’t around that much.

Families are not always what they seem.
