U.S. most armed country with 90 guns per 100 people

The United States has 90 guns for every 100 citizens, making it the most heavily armed society in the world, a report released on Tuesday said.
U.S. citizens own 270 million of the world's 875 million known firearms, according to the Small Arms Survey 2007 by the Geneva-based Graduate Institute of International Studies.
About 4.5 million of the 8 million new guns manufactured worldwide each year are purchased in the United States, it said.
"There is roughly one firearm for every seven people worldwide. Without the United States, though, this drops to about one firearm per 10 people," it said.
India had the world's second-largest civilian gun arsenal, with an estimated 46 million firearms outside law enforcement and the military, though this represented just four guns per 100 people there. China, ranked third with 40 million privately held guns, had 3 firearms per 100 people.
Germany, France, Pakistan, Mexico, Brazil and Russia were next in the ranking of country's overall civilian gun arsenals.
On a per-capita basis, Yemen had the second most heavily armed citizenry behind the United States, with 61 guns per 100 people, followed by Finland with 56, Switzerland with 46, Iraq with 39 and Serbia with 38.

How do they tally Thompson Contender and Encore barrels? You can get almost any caliber and barrel length to shoot on those two frames. In France the barrel is considered to be the firearm and therefore requires a handgun permit to own.
Practically everyone has more than one barrel. My favorite in my 40+ collection is a 5 inch chambered in .50-70 to launch a 750 grain .50 BMG slug.
I’ve been to Finland a bunch of times and ownership of automatic weapons is encouraged there. Sako and Valmet make the highest quality version of the AK-47.
Come on, people. We need to get working on that remaining ten percent...!

Very good point, America must crack the 100 gun barrier! We all need to buy, buy, buy, buy, and buy some more.
It's more like 60% - 70% The average gun owner owns about 2.7 guns (kind of like 1.4 children) 100 - (90/2.7) = 66% who don't own.

90 guns per 100 people? Good, in that this means lots of guns (270 million that they'll admit), but bad in that lots and lots of people don't have any (and the rest of us don't have as many as we'd like). Me - let's just say that I live in Texas, and I'm above average.

This says nothing about sales of C&R guns, of which I've got a few. Or "illegal" guns (as if there is such an animal), brought in from overseas. But even if there were no C&R or illegal guns, this increase in firearms means that there are now nearly 60 million more guns in the US than when the "assault rifle" abomination was passed in 1994 - and aside from a couple of very tragic incidents (Columbine and Virginia Tech stand out), there haven't been any incidents of "blood in the streets." Somehow the crime rate even dropped, particularly in states that adopted "shall issue" carry laws. Gee, maybe the number of guns available doesn't increase crime?

Note to Hitlery, Schumer, Feinstein, Brady, Kennedy, Soros, et al: if Iraq, with only about 45% as many guns per capita, a FAR lower population, much of the population on our side or neutral, and with generally far lower quality guns and training presents such a huge problem for our 150,000 troops, tanks, APCs and all sorts of choppers and fighter-bombers...just think about what 80 million pissed off gun owners can do to you. All that we require is that you bastards leave us alone - we don't even mind much if you line your pockets a bit, drink while driving or on the job (yeah, YOU, Kennedy), etc. - just leave us and our guns alone.

Switzerland and Finland have the most guns after the US (besides Yemen)?

One more wierd stat:

So, the Finns (with one of the highest alcoholism rates on Earth) can be trusted with full autos, but we proles here in the US aren't allowed to buy any post-'86 ones and must pay multiple thousands for any earlier models, if they can even be owned in our state? WTF??? So much for freedom.
