Hasta La Vista Alberto (Alberto, Bush And Rampant Cronyism Alert)
Worldnetdaily.com ^ | 08/28/2007 | Joseph Farah

Posted on 08/27/2007 10:14:27 PM PDT by goldstategop

This whole drama is kind of a metaphor for the Bush administration. These guys, starting at the top, have been over their heads from day one. Bush tried so hard to get along with the Democrats. He cared so much about appearances and the way the New York Times, Washington Post and Associated Press covered his actions. He didn't care about his campaign promises to his base. He didn't even seem to care if he lost control of Congress – which he did.

Now, amid this shameless feeding frenzy by Democrats and the press, he is reaping his just deserts for abandoning his own party and principles – if he ever had any.

For a man who tried so hard to get along with Democrats and get plaudits from the MSM - President Bush found himself reaping the rewards for his perceived incompetence and betrayal of the base - in spades. A really effective President would have managed to keep the Democrats well away from power. In his last 17 months in office, the President's watchword seems to be one of rampant cronyism. I can't wait til its finally over. The country has had enough.

I’ve had enough of Joseph Farah. A really effective president would have kept the Dems away from power? Farah has his head jammed up something. Gonzalez was inept, but he didn’t deserve the attacks.

Bush has been pro illegal immigration since he took office.

I don’t care what happens to him.

Well Gonzales didn't deserve all the attacks on him and as Joseph Farah notes, the Democrats don't like minorities that stray off the liberal plantation. That's not the issue though. The issue really is how this Administration allowed the Democrats to make hay off a series of political non-events and let them maneuver the Attorney General into a position whereby he was forced to resign. Gonzales seemed to be out of his depth. As far as I can tell, the chief reason for the President's second term appointments is putting people in place who are not necessarily the best for the job but the most loyal to Bush. And as we've seen in Gonzales' fall from power, loyalty to the President is not necessarily a survival skill in Washington's deadly political jungle.

I have to agree that Joseph Farah has just really gone further towards the nutty. Yes Bush has low poll numbers because of spending and immigration reform. And to be fair to the Dems (adult alert) one of the big reasons why Congress is getting such low poll numbers particuarly from dems is because of a lack of progress in the anti-war arena.

Farah has some things right but because he comes across so much like a loudmouth nowadays, I really can’t take him seriously anymore.

We've seen how the President repaid the base's hard work and loyalty on illegal immigration. That contributed to his low poll numbers. This has been a term where almost nothing seems to have gone right for the Administration. Right now Iraq is hanging in the balance and this is about the sole legacy the President can have in the face of a hostile press and Congress. Things could have been a lot different. People will b asking for years how a GOP majority and an ambitious second term agenda disappeared.

GW could have so much more then what his Presidency has amounted to.I’m disappointed because for the first time in 50 years conservatives had a chance to make a real impact on American society and it was squandered by George Bush and the Republican Party. Whether we ever get another chance at changing the country remains to be seen !!!

"sole legacy"

Are you serious? The supreme court justices don't count? You know the ones who struck down partial birth abortion among other things. The tax cuts and the booming economy. The attempts at ss reform. The tongue-lashing of libs about Vietnam. I haven't mentioned the removal of two evil Islamic regimes. Wait, I just did.

The President can't get a Democratic Congress to pass any of his domestic proposals. All he really has is foreign policy. Of course, there are the justices but they were confirmed by the last GOP Congress. Chuck Schumer has ruled out any new Supreme Court nominatons. So that leaves Bush will hoping for a victory in Iraq. Its about all he can really do in the time he has left in office.

Yawn, more gibberish from the xenophobe Joe Farah, who is actually happy that an "uppity" hispanic has been shot down.

Sometimes it is hard to tell apart joe farah and chuckie schumer, afterall, they both believe that "uppity" people should be put in their places.

BTW, where is Madame Malkin's take on this, she is probably toasting champagne in her DC parlor.

Yes, he and his fellow travelers think history begins when they wake up in the morning.

And like the MSM, they think they can rewrite history to their liking.

To bad for them, that most of us have been paying attention for decades and decades, and know the score.

I don’t think we know why AG had to go but I suspect that we’ll begin to understand this resignation within the next few weeks. It won’t have anything to do with fired US Attorneys is my guess.

Gonzalez was inept, but he didn’t deserve the attacks.

As I read it, that was pretty much Farah's what Farah said. He didn't deserve the attacks, but he was so inept he let the Dems get away with it.

As for Farah's other main point, I agree. We need people in government who will stand up for the Constitution, and not wait for the black robed dictators to tell them what it means (a power given to them nowhere in the Constitution itself).

I read a while back that Bush had put out the word that anyone who didn’t plan to stay until the end of the adminstration should quit before Labor Day. Maybe he was just tired of it and didn’t want to stick around another 16 months.
