Well, Vitter is heterosexual and has created his own mess.

True, but it seems he's as popular as ever. Louisiana you know!

Hey, if that’s the worst thing that happens to you here this week, things won’t be too bad, eh? ;-)

That could be true. But Risch was already positioning himself, and Otter might come under pressure to appoint him.

Another possibility is state AG Lawrence Wasden.

It's enough to make me want to just forget about political matters altogether and just get on with my life as it comes at me.

Me too, if I thought that the government and the world would leave my family and me alone!

No, the “FOD” stuff was the kind of thing that was around in the ‘40s/’50s to tend to identify fellow gays (and apparently military types, too). Since many seem to be fairly open about it today, it’s rather old fashioned.

Although most FReepers would understandably prefer they keep their business private, the downside to having closeted officials (especially Republican ones) is that they’re easily open to blackmail. Could explain why Craig has been trending leftward in his votes (ditto Graham in SC, whom many of us suspect to be similarly light in the loafers).

You said it. David “diapers” Vitter is starting to look like a healthy, well-adjusted guy.

I think Monty Burns said it best; “Excellent.”

Unless he switches parties, he won’t recover from this.

He'll have to do more than switch parties. He'll have to switch states. Perhaps he could run for Senator as a Democrat in California.

My experience has shown that 99.9999% of individuals who use a stall, bring their case/briefcase/carryon bag, etc. into it, rather than have it out of sight, vulnerable to a thief walking off with it, while you're sitting on the can, with your pants down around your ankles!

I always do. I prop the laptop up against the wall or door and use my carry-on bag to prevent the laptop from rolling onto the pissy floor. There's no way I'm leaving my laptop and carry-on unattended and outside the stall.

If his appeal ever gets to the SCOTUS, he should be able to count on Souter’s vote.

Had plenty of gay friends, and most of them think public restroom sex is disgusting too.

Oh. ok.

It sounds to me more like conservatives are outing the ones in their midst who are not voting the way conservatives want. Conservatives blackmail, too. Or so I’ve been told. Sometimes they blackmail folks for so long that the blackmailed lose their fear of being outed. Then they vote the way they have always wanted. But I’m only speaking in theory.

Never thought of Wasden. I’m worried about Simpson.

I think the distinction between a Republican and a True Conservative, in this regard, is really on target.

Sounds like he behaved like a Libertarian

I will never understand why crooks and perverts in the public eye, especially Republicans who ought to know 1/2 the universe is gunning for them, think they will never get caught.

It's a pretty clear indication of their inability to
A) Control their "impulses"
B) Reason out the potential consequences that will follow their actions

Neither of these are positive attributes of someone in a position of power.

A gold ring on Craig’s RIGHT hand is NOT a wedding ring......why did the cop even mention it?

Just maybe it was the Senator's right hand that was reaching under the stall partition towards the police officer. Barf.

But I’m drawing a complete blank on who the illustrious FReeper was that broke that story.

I believe it was Buckhead.
