Washington D.C. 8/27/2007 5:20 PM GMT (FINDITT - Top Story)
USAElectionPolls.com has an audience of about 67,000 visitors per month according to the latest statistics by Quantcast -- making it the most visited polling website with the exception of RealClearPolitics. The web site has been having an online straw poll for three days on voters' preference for the 2008 election; both Democrats and Republicans are listed.
Ron Paul is leading the group of almost 20 candidates with 51%. Even more impressive is that he currently has 1744 votes while the second place candidate Dennis Kucinich has 613 votes -- 18%. Ron Paul leads the next closest Republican competitor in the online poll 51% to 3%.
Ordinarily, very little can be made of such results. They could be flukes. The web site's target audience could be Ron Paul, etc. But USAElectionPolls.com gets an immense amount of traffic all across the United States and it is a non-partisan website that talks about all of the candidates.
The poll is still open and can be found on the front page.

We fight them over there over there or we fight them over here. Never back down. Never retreat. Never surrender.
This site is analogous to the American Idol site, “votefortheworst.com”. Ron Paul’s numbers come from people voting for the worst as a joke.
All this proves is that Paul people have nothing better to do than vote, delete cookies, vote, delete cookies, vote, delete cookies, vote, delete cookies, vote, delete cookies, vote, delete cookies, vote, delete cookies, vote, delete cookies, vote, delete cookies, vote, delete cookies, vote, delete cookies, vote, delete cookies, vote, delete cookies, vote, delete cookies, vote, delete cookies, vote, delete cookies, ....
They only reasonable explanation for Ron Paul's "amazing" poll numbers is that his supporters use spambots. Only a total idiot would take as representative a poll that shows Paul with 2022 votes and Giuliani and Thompson with a combined total of 114.
End of discusion.
Well, that was a bust...
Please, for the love of God, country and apple pie tell me that you you don’t use sarcasm tags, or just plum forgot to...
If so, well done.
If not, over done, very done and quite done...
oui...
BTW thanks for keeping the humor if you know what I mean...
Nah, they automate it...
LOL! That was my first thought!
No, this means nothing! Only the all-in-the-name early mainstream media opinion polls count! Straw polls mean nothing! Oh except that one Ron Paul lost....um...the Iowa straw poll I think it was. But all other straw polls (at least the ones Ron Paul won) are meaningless!
You’re right; Dennis Kucinich is clearly the frontrunner for the Donks.
“Non partisan” poll. The dems are playing with us. Hope nobody falls for it.
Oh yeah........ Big time! :o)
If (god forbid) that Ron Paul and Dennis Kucinich were the GOP and Dim nominations I would sincerely vote third-party!
666? Are they sure that wasn’t the mark on his forehead?
>>Ordinarily, very little can be made of such results. They could be flukes. <<
I don’t think its a fluke. Its yet another example of how much better organized online Ron Paul supporters are than those of the other Republican candidates.
Ron Paul is not my choice for President but it is clear the Republican party needs to keep Ron Paul supporters around for the general.
I’m not trying to be insulting but there is some parallel with Dean. I don’t know what Paul will want if he is not the nominee to put his full effort into the general but Republicans ought to start thinking about what they are willing to pay.
Surprise, surprise.
This isn’t even a straw poll. A straw poll requires you to actually show up at a polling place.
This is an ONLINE POLL! Ron Paul’s spam supporters have spammed virtually every online poll on the planet in favor of this guy.
On a side note, though... I almost feel sorry for Rep. Paul. His campaign has been hijacked by crazies and loons. Of course, by going on shows like Alex Jones, he brought it on himself.
