Michael Vick was always something of an Allen Iverson for Atlanta.
Without him, the team is terrible, and with him, the team can never be great. Hes a wonderful athlete who dominates little more than the highlight reel. Truth be told, I seriously doubt the Falcons would have ever succeeded with Vick at the helm.
As far as Im concerned, the dog-fighting scandal was one of the best things that could have happened to the Falcons. They had to get rid of him somehow, even if they didnt want to accept it. Michael Vick had a special appeal with the culture of Atlanta, which everyone knows but very few people admit. He was a champion, of sorts, for one half of the segregated South.

Obviously.
So, why is McNabb a good pick this year. We're drafting next Thursday, so I have to start my research.
He also understands the game and the position.
He's on my draft board right after Peyton Manning and Tom Brady.
Public opinion will be a difficult hurdle, but so will the NFL Commissoner. When you have someone like Vick being a prime mover/funder of an illegal gambling activity, it brings into question how much the integrity of the NFL may be compromised. Vick's association with other gamblers and his access to inside information on the NFL, does raise questions as to whether more than just dogs were involved. It also made Vick subject to blackmail. Even the appearance of an impropriety is enough to get him banned for life. I hope he is.
I’m drafting #6, So I’ll probably be picking up Manning in the first round, with all RBs going 1-5. That’s the way it works in our league.
You’re going to draft a QB in round 1?
Vick can always go into TV commentary.
Wait a minute, that requires reading the teleprompter.
Never mind.
Yeah. I figure that after the top five RBs are gone, #6 and #11 are going to be pretty much the same. But Peyton Manning is much better than the next available QB.

This is not an opinion shared by people actually in Atlanta.

On July 6, the same day federal investigators were back in Surry County, Va., digging up Michael Vicks little yard of horrors, ESPN erroneously reported the Falcons quarterback would not be indicted.
On July 7, Orlando Daniels of Acworth, facing a deadline and buoyed by the report, submitted his deposit for two club-level season tickets at $1,390.
Ten days later, Vick was indicted.
Ever feel like you just paid a premium for drilling rights, only to hit sand? Evidence is all over the Internet. Since Vicks tenure with the team unofficially ended with news of a plea agreement, fans have flooded eBay, Craigslist and StubHub with their season tickets. The Web suddenly looks like a surf shop in Des Moines.
Dude, there are people selling season tickets on the lower level, 50-yard line for below face value, said Daniels, who had been on a waiting list for tickets for three years. Thats unheard of in any market.<<
Animal abuse != Human abuse
Jeffrey Dahmer used to kill animals and play with the bones when he was a child...It may seem small to you, but cruelty like that is indicative of a greater issue.
I never said it was a small issue. But I don’t think that the fact that somebody may commit a crime in the future is a reason to arrest them today.

People get arrested and prosecuted for starving their livestock. Is this any different? (Other than it’s even more dimented and sick than just plain neglect.)
Or....just put him in the middle of an arena and let police dogs have at him!
Our team loaded up on running backs and didn't pay much attention to QBs, so we got stuch with Mark Brunell and Philip Rivers.
We later dumped Mark Brunell and picked up Rex Grossman who did OK until they played Arizona.
this year, we're still planning to load up on RBs and maybe get a QB in the fourth round.
I suppose it depends on how many QBs they let you start.
Last year it was 2, so we waited too long.
THis year it will only be one, so we figure that fourth round will be right.
A lot of it depends on your scoring system, of course. Some scoring systems really favor the RB, particularly ones with yardage points.
but still, that is not the same as torturing animals for vengeance...
yet somehow, this Vick business is a "racial" thing......
Remember how Larry Johnson said that black athletes were slaves? If thats true then I want to be a slave. Never knew slaves were among the richest men in America.
