You did your duty well.
Thank you.

As the wife of a Viet Nam vet, we watched the aftermath very closely.
It was brutal, and disgusting.

God bless and be with your son.
Please thank him for me for his service.

And, thank you for yours...

That’s a very nice graphic, Phil.

Dang...but I hate seeing it.

Nominally communist?

Pfffft

These reporters are disgusting.

It's worse than that.

He's not a reporter. He's Senior Editor.

Sort of amazing, isn’t it, how the left thinks it’s perfectly ok that people of color in other countries live under despotism and without modern conveniences.

I notice particularly how they pay these people to stay poor for their “carbon credits” so they can still fly jets.

And if George Bush ever put on the US (if he could), 1/10 of the strictures Vietnam puts on its people, the left would be screaming.

The left has been using Vietnam to pound on conservatives for years. Its about time conservatives pound back. Vietnam was not a shining moment for the MSM/Democrats.

.

It kinda looks like the front cover of this week’s Newsweek Magazine has a Re-Education (SLAVE LABOR) Camp scene on it straight out of the brilliant “JOURNEY from the FALL” Vietnamese-American Motion Picture..?

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) has denounced the speech President Bush’s gave on the “War on Terror” to the Veterans of Foreign Wars. “President Bush’s attempt to compare the war in Iraq to past military conflicts in East Asia ignores the fundamental difference between the two,” Reid said. “In the case of Vietnam, Presidents Kennedy and Johnson carefully built a measured response at the invitation of South Vietnam’s President Diem. It was only when Nixon assumed the presidency that things started to go downhill. It was a Democratic congress that courageously ‘pulled the plug,’ extricating our troops from the quagmire. The region has been at peace for the last 30 years—many of the Vietnamese were reeducated by the new government. Others were able to take ocean cruises—thus, vindicating the wisdom of our withdrawal.”

To Hirsh, the 'aftermath' of America's withdrawal from Vietnam didn't begin until 1991, more than 16 years after Saigon fell.

Typical sociopathic attitude. He didn't see it, therefore it didn't happen. He didn't see it on the TV or read about it in the New York Times, either.

The full quote from Ann Coulter: “The beauty of being a liberal is that history always begins this morning. Every day liberals can create a new narrative that destroys the past as it occurred. We have always been at war with Eastasia.”

Not sure of the Ann Coulter quote-but from my experience
most liberals I’ve known the past is whatever they find ,
at that moment they are asked of past events, most flattering,or possibly beneficial to the future they envision. And any reflection of past events is subject to
change moment by moment.they really prefer everyone would
be like them and reject the past -the better not to know
where one came from -so one could confuse where they now are-and never know where they hope to be going next.

They think that because the American commie media willfully failed to report the ensuing horror after we left, it means it never happened. These idiots are beyond disgusting. For the love of God, this is a Senior Editor at a major news magazine. Absolutely pathetic.

Unlike mr.Taranto, I met a vietnamese refugee and listened to them about re-education and tyrrany, and aven though we abandoned them, they are grateful to have escaped that hell and live here as free.

You said it. Calling them msm or driveby is a huge understatement, these are communists plain and simple and will sacrifice all of us in their global war on bush and capitalism.

The left has been using the specter of Vietnam since the Iraq war began. Now that Bush uses it, it is no longer valid.

Bingo.
