HYDERABAD, India: The police continued to find and defuse bombs throughout the southern Indian city of Hyderabad on Sunday, a day after a pair of synchronized explosions ripped through two popular gathering spots, killing at least 42 people and wounding scores of others.
State and national officials are calling the blasts in Hyderabad, a city with a history of Muslim-Hindu tensions, acts of terrorism.
After the attacks, the police defused 19 more bombs - all fitted with timers and placed in plastic bags - at bus stops, movie theaters, road intersections and pedestrian bridges. The police said each of the bombs contained ball bearings and ammonium.

The explosions just minutes apart. The first hit an open-air auditorium in a public park during a laser show about the history of Hyderabad, killing at least 11 people. There were unconfirmed reports of two explosions at the park.
The second blast ripped through a popular restaurant, Gokul Chaat, the heart of Hyderabad's commercial district. The police and witnesses say the restaurant was packed with patrons. At least 30 were killed.
By Sunday morning, the death toll had risen to 42 as victims died of wounds suffered in the attacks, said K. Jana Reddy, the state home minister.
Both attacks appeared calculated to cause maximum carnage.
"The metal pellets in the bombs had worked as deadly missiles, killing more people," said Dr. K. Shastry, a senior doctor at a large hospital, which received many dead and wounded.
On Sunday, the chief minister of Andhra Pradesh, of which Hyderabad is the capital, pointed to Islamist militant groups in neighboring Pakistan and Bangladesh.

ROP strikes again!!! There will be no peace until we take this menace seriously and take the head off the snake.
19 more unexploded and defused? I would think it took more than a few to set this up. This smacks of 11 or more people involved. The only question is how will India respond, for India cannot let this go without a response. And I, for one, would not expect India not to respond. I hope India found all the ones set-up this round.
I do not recall India responding forcefully to previous radical islamist attacks.

And what will the US do if India goes after Pakistan? What will Pakistan do?
If India ever goes after Pakistan in earnest, Pakistan will lose. I have no idea how the US will react, other than the State Department will condemn any action. This is what the State Department does. As for the remainder of those in D.C., the democrats will cry foul and demand India quit kicking Pakistan’s butts. Republican will probably remain quiet. But I do not expect anything other than an investigation and assorted arrests, coupled with a ‘back channel’ warning to Pakistan, if those who did this turn out to be from Pakistan.
I am pro-India on this, but the geopolitcs don’t make it clear what exactly they should do. Pakistan has nukes and an unstable gov’t that the west does not want to see fall, lest the Islamofascists take over. Still, I think India must respond.
Offer Musharraf a secret slot in the Witness Protection Program, then pass the popcorn.
You know, it wouldn’t surprise me if this was the work of the Red Mosque jihadists. They would have the most to gain from initiating a shooting war between India and Pakistan.

they should’ve have invaded Iraq, that’s the root of all terror you know.
The Islamists are currently alone, but if they can trick India into going to war against Pakistan, then by default Pakistan will join the war on the side of the Islamists.
This would be seen as a net gain by the terrorists.
Ergo, the terrorists have a great incentive to make India mad (at Pakistan’s expense).

These parents? relatives? must be so sad and shocked.
But Islam is a religion of peace...
Indians are ourselves to blame for this.. we are too disunited and let the communists into power.
I doubt if India can even respond to terrorism, its become a very weak nation thanks to our official policy of “show the other cheek” to terrorists.
