The Navy made a documentary of the fire. Required viewing at Damage Control School and Surface Warfare Officer’s School. Hell on Earth is correct.

“The Navy made a documentary of the fire.”
Shortly after it was made, became mandatory viewing for ALL Navy personnel.
Your impression of the film was the same as mine. Shipboard fire is scary indeed.

Some observers have said that the casualties at the Pentagon on 9/11 had it not hit the navy section -- because every sailor is trained to fight fires, they were able to react in a heartbeat.

Yeah, I saw it in bootcamp in ‘88. Scary footage and injuries.

We were required to watch the film at Machinist Mate A School as well.

Hell on Earth is correct.I remember watching it during basic and several other times during my Navy career. I think that everyone in the Navy called the ship the "USS Forrest Fire"
