Many of you know that I help organize the Duncan Hunter "meetup" group(s). I decided to peek in at the "competition" and found it very interesting that Ron Paul supporters are being urged to attend the MoveOn.org rally....

I post this because I know there are a lot of folks on FR that support Ron Paul.. I just wonder if you are participating in this effort.. or what you think about this whole business of catering to MoveOn.org

My friend Jack Wilson (not his real name, of course) is a devoted Eastern Orthodox fan of Edgar Rice Borrough's Barsoomian tales of Mars, and I am a great fan of Wells and Verne. We each enjoy early Science Fiction; to each his own, and we trade discussions and criticisms from time to time.
Unfortunately, in this case, I accidentally combined a political essay I was writing for Free Republic together with a fanciful science fiction essay I was writing for my friend.
I accidentally posted both, together, as one essay. Most embarassing.
If you could kindly delete the entirety of Post #715, I might still salvage my pride. I'd be much obliged, and I'll be more careful with the "Cut&Paste" from now on.

Anyway, I was composing a post for the benefit of my tenant, an Armenian Jew with whom I always enjoy great humor discussing the fact that for his people, one Holocaust just isn't enough, and I happened to Cut&Paste the last part of my "HG Wells-ish short story" Word Doc onto the Word Doc I was posting onto Free Republic.
I feel like quite the Goon, and I think next time I'll monitor the "Preview" function a bit more closely.

You conveniently ignore the fact that Paul supports a strong defense & a missile defense system, not to mention a militarized Southern border and interior enforcement. In addition to letting citizens keep their firearms.
So what if our troops leave the Middle Eastern hellhole and stop spending billions of dollars on Iraqi infrastructure and schools while 7th century heathens still kill each other.
Comparing Paul to a Democrat, while using the very language you deride Paul supporters of, really blows a hole in your argument.
I would rather stand for what is right than what is popular. If this means my candidate doesn't get the nomination, so be it. But I have not forgone my principles as a Classical Liberal and advocate of the rights of the separate and sovereign states either

OK, now I feel bad for laughing at your expense. Honestly, I feel for ya. I have a brother who is a “geek” in the sci-fi sense. He also happens to be a raving leftist, conspiracy kook. (I haven’t asked him what he thinks of Paul.) Anyway, if you had just ignored the post and/or sent a private e-mail, I wouldn’t have even noticed it. But, can you really blame us for getting a little chuckle when you pretty much validate the stereotype of the Paul supporter? I’m sure you’re a nice guy and there is nothing wrong with being a “geek”.
