Ron Paul supporters urged to attend MoveOn.org Rally !
RonPaul MeetUp Group ^ | 26 August 2007 | David Osborne

Posted on 08/26/2007 10:44:41 AM PDT by davidosborne

Many of you know that I help organize the Duncan Hunter "meetup" group(s). I decided to peek in at the "competition" and found it very interesting that Ron Paul supporters are being urged to attend the MoveOn.org rally....

http://ronpaul.meetup.com/1/boards/view/viewthread?thread=3421862

I post this because I know there are a lot of folks on FR that support Ron Paul.. I just wonder if you are participating in this effort.. or what you think about this whole business of catering to MoveOn.org

.... quote from an active Ron Paul supporter

Somebody posted a thread concerning moveon, and letting their members know about Ron Paul. As a member of moveon.org, I received today an invitation to create an anti-war rally on August 28th. They will be doing rallies all across the nation on that day. We should invade this event. During the rally, bring anti-war stickers, signs, and flags -- and also Ron Paul signs. Introduce moveon members to Ron Paul, the REAL anti-war candidate! Anti-war people will ask about Ron Paul and be introduced to him on that day. Don't be rude, just gently introduce people to the peace candidate. Moveon.org is well cordinated, so if enough of our people show up at their rallies, we might be able to convert a huge number of people.

I have already created a moveon.org anti-war rally, on the 28th at 7pm, right outisde of the West Covina Mall. Please, everybody who can in this group, COME. It's on the corner of Vincent and Plaza Drive in West Covina.

she's one of the staunchest conservatives here on FR. Calling her a liberal troll is like saying Rudy is conservative.

Or is the same as saying that our borders are protected real "gut".

Bump!

I understood your intended purpose very easily.
It wasn't rocket science.

There is more than enough evidence in the posts on this thread to explain why I stay away from RP threads altogether.

that’s what you and your kind were saying a couple years back when janetgreen, and many others, were vociferously condemning Bush and his OPEN BORDERS....many of your kind changed your tune when it became popular, but janetgreen, and MANY MANY others have never stopped cursing open borders and those who support it.

Ron Paul had nothing to do with it, and if he had been in charge, I doubt that this disastrous war for oil would have happened.

I do wonder what this world would be like if Saddam Hussein had not been forcibly removed from power.

How would the past four and a quarter years passed.

Nightly we could wonder what terrorist organizations he was supporting directly or indirectly.

We could debate daily whether he was building stockpiles of chemical or biological or even nuclear weapons.

We could count the dead Israelis as Saddam continued to give financial aid to Palestinians who murdered Israelis while committing suicide.

We could be mostly oblivious of the Jihadists homeland, Iran, nuclear intentions as news would be buried on page 26 of whatever newspaper while we front page continued to debate the actions of Saddam Hussein.

We might even had had the misfortune to experience another terrorist attack on our nation as our enemies concluded we are weak and wobbly and Afghanistan failed to appreciably use up our enemies resources.

I sure as heck glad Ron Paul was not nor ever will be in charge.

It steams me when supposedly conservative posters jump on and try to decimate a perfectly honorable conservative man like Ron Paul.

Several of the other GOP candidates don't even deserve to shine his shoes, yet the GOP is trying to shove the Bush/Clinton-warmed-over candidates down our collective throats. None of them will get my vote.

A staunch conservative does not post drivel like that. I could find the same type phrases posted at DU or Kos. Us freepers that take offense to that have every right to call her on it. She posted it we are responding to what it looks like to us.

Trust me I can damn well secure my PC, but I have client data to watch over on with this laptop and I am not at my junk machine.

Now let me get this straight, on the one hand you talk about 4 people then post a link asking everyone to join in....

Hum...

That takes me back to my original proposition. If you are not supporting in any way the MoveOn screed, why invite them over. If Ron Paul's message is so attractive to Conservatives, why toss your names in with that lot...

Bush is supporting Islam by keeping open borders.

Why send out troops to be hurt abroad when innocent Americans are being taken out at home, by illegals and by terrorists coming through the borders?

What kind of “war on terror” is that...bot?

Don’t lump me into “your kind”.

Since you seem to know me so well,
please tell me my views on open
borders now, and a couple of years
ago.

They did the very same thing with CONSERVATIVE REPUBLICAN Tom Tancredo, Randy Graf, and a host of other conservatives. The GOP slime machine made sure that only those on the plantation, globalist scum, would get their money and kind words.

Second, all of the "bashing" going on here is from YOUR fellow Ron Paul supporters. I see that once you showed up on the thread they start telling you what a great job you are doing for Ron Paul and encouraging your efforts. However, earlier in the thread if you take the time to scroll back, you will see that they were calling YOU everything BUT a child of God, --- see post #14 "FRINGE LUNATIC -- see post #25 "Anti-war Moonbat -- see post #128 "one wingnut in Pasadena" --- and on and on.. ) THESE ARE THE COMMENTS ABOUT YOU -- FROM YOUR FELLOW RON PAUL SUPPORTERS HERE ON FR --- who are now praising your efforts -- which is it folks???

I've changed my mind. Karsten5 seems like a young man that is a conservative as it gets in California. He could move to my all-Red state and fit in just fine given what he's posted here. More conservative than some of the people here that are supposedly so conservative, more damned nanny-staters and big-government Republican types.

The whole purpose of this thread was to ask the Ron Paul supporters here on FR if they agree or disagree with your efforts -- what we found was that they DISAGREE with your views -- but support the efforts of the Anti-war crowd if it helps recruit more folks into Ron Paul's camp.

Actually, I think it's a good idea now that I understand Karsten's motives better. It's fine to advocate ending the Iraq war (I know it's heinous to all those unlimited-war/eternal-war types). This is a rare opportunity to penetrate a MoveOn and have a chance to move some of their adherents to a true pro-liberty small-government position. So, good for Karsten for having the guts to "invade" them.

Lastly, I stated earlier in this thread that IF a group of folks claiming to be Duncan Hunter supporters were trying to recruit folks at a MoveOn event,

You know, this is rather unkind when we have said so many nice things about Duncan (and Tanc and TThompson) on so many of our own threads. When Ron Paul was attacked (falsely) for earmarking, we never brought up Duncan's history on it in any detail. We didn't post that story about the millions Duncan got earmarked for his own district out of the defense budget that passed, did we? I'm not sure why a Duncan supporter is being so hostile to Ron Paul.

Thank you for being kind. One thing I would like to stress is that the event in West Covina on Tuesday is called “INVADE” the moveon.org rally. They have no idea that Ron Paul supporters will be showing up. There might even be conflict between us and them. There are probably going to be more of them showing up than us, and it is important to stress that very few people from the Pasadena meetup group have signed up for this event. Therefore, it is obvious that we are in no way a part of moveon.org. I subscribe to their mailing list, but I also subscribe to mailing lists of many political organizations from across the spectrum. I just like to know what is going on. I saw the event oppurtunity in West Covina, and I thought it would be a good oppurtunity to persuade anti-war people to support Ron Paul, because of Ron Pauls constitutional non-interventionist stance.

Two things, it is rarely Paul Himself, but his delightful adherents and some of his less tenable positions that get the brunt of the heat.

As for your “None of them will get my vote” The Great Conservative Hillary Clinton thanks you for your absolutist stand...
