Yes it does annoy me when they say 26p change when I hand over a 10 pound note rather than giving me the 26p and saying 9.74, 9.80, ten pound as they hand over the change as I was taught to do.
LOL .....
And this. Yes it does annoy me when they say 26p change when I hand over a 10 pound note rather than giving me the 26p and saying 9.74, 9.80, ten pound as they hand over the change as I was taught to do.
There are some older clerks around who still count change that way. You buy $4.25, and they will give you the change for a $10 with three quarters and a $5 and say: "Four twenty-five (your purchase), four fifty (one quarter), five (two quarters), ten dollars."
SAme here.
Oddest thing. We were talking about Nunn on the Sunday thread a couple of weeks ago? We were wondering if he was still alive and look who rears his ugly head.

Sam Nunn Weighing White House Run
OOoh lookin’ good tonight.
The more I think about it, and after seeing and reading their statements from today .. I’m getting the impression they (McConnell, Warner) were given hints of “redeployment” directly from the WH.
McConnell’s obviously the more prudent .. Warner’s now a loose cannon IMO .. but McConnell’s words have brought me up rather short. I wasn’t expecting him to say what he did.
McConnell’s very close to the WH .. and he (and Warner in the leadership) could’ve been chosen to offer up that balloon, McConnell being more cautious and vague in his statements and Warner more egotistical and legacy focused.
Total speculation, but I’m now seriously wondering if the WH *will* be making some troop reductions .. and, if true, that would be a very very surprising and alarming turn to me.
Thanks for the link.
No problem.
This is of Vets in the Democratic party. They have already self-selected themselves as liberals. How big is the sample?
You got that right. If it wasn’t for the cash registers, the people would have no idea how to make change.
Of course, they probably wouldn’t have the job either. The illegals are totally lost making change with automation.
Why we don't have capabilities to put a half million troops in without strain now, is a huge question mark to me.
Since we are talking about the, “old days” and how it was, remember these guys—the Ruskies, they are about as friendly now as they were 30 years ago, IMHO. Check this:

RUSSIAN PANTSYR FOR SYRIA ORDERED BY IRAN
Russia is delivering SAC missile systems to syria and paid for by their best buds the Iranians.
Unbelievable.
This is another good site loaded with great stuff.
Warner is a great example of the past not being prelude to the future.
Looks like Boy Hugo is going into the cargo business or something.
Notice how Senator Obama, who has less experience than Dan Quayle had, seems to get a pass from the Drive-bys and the late-night punsters?
The counterinsurgency plan has succeeded beyond anyones expectations in places like Al Anbar and the Sunni power base of the sheiks is now asserting itself in relation to the national government of Maliki, but in a way that could lead to real progress. The Kurds have gotten behind the same push and it looks like a serious effort has been put together during the parliament's "recess" that will lead to a big political push when they reconvene. The test is will Maliki bypass or eliminate Al Sadr in order to make progress among his own Shiite power base. Some indications are there that he's actually making some moves to bypass him and make him irrelevant.
The thing that scares me is that the surge and counterinsurgency plan have succeeded to such an extent that Al Qaeda and Iran are getting desperate. Watch for a Tet like offensive, particularly in Baghdad, between now and when Patraeus is scheduled to testify on 9/11/07. I've read some things that sound like such a counter offensive may actually have started within the last 72 hours with coordinated attacks on several cities and an increase in car bombings.
I wouldn't be a bit surprised to find out that Al Qaeda has been in touch with folks like Timmah Russert and are coordinating their actions with his show's guests and themes in the run up to that testimony. Wouldn't it be a hoot if Bush went on TV and played audio recordings of Lil Timmah or Ol' Bob talking on the phone with Al Qaeda operatives about timing of attacks on our soldiers. It would screw up any criminal case, even for treason, but I doubt anyone caught like that would ever walk the streets again and survive.
