When George H W Bush was teasing the media during the 1988 convention as to who he was going to pick as his VP he said 'watch this space... everyone will be surprised.' I had great hopes that he was going to nominate Jeane Kirkpatrick. Now, it probably would not have been well received as it would have been seen as two New England intellectuals, but I think it would have been a helluva ticket. Certainly she wouldn't have been subject to the same kind of lampooning as Dan Quayle was.
And I would have loved to see the NOW gang implode:
"It's a woman!"
"It's the wrong woman!"
"It's a woman!"
"It's the wrong woman!"
"It's a woman!"
"It's the wrong woman!"
"It's a woman!"
"It's the wrong woman!"
They would have had a nervous breakdown. And she would have been a great VP and, perhaps, a great President.
I agree completely with your take and didn’t mean to imply otherwise in my post.
I’ve said before the W is determined to govern, not conduct the permanent campaign of his predecessor. Part of that is engaging with those who are fighting him, not fighting back. It sometimes frustrates me, but I understand it and he certainly did tell us that this was how he intended to run his presidency.
The ONLY reason I'd stay in the military if cankles get elected would be a military coup against another clinton in the WH. There is no way I'll serve a year under her, other than to kick her fat bu++ out onto the street..
I learned recently from “a source close to the situation” that about half of the boat-people refugees who made it to Hong Kong were North Vietnamese. I guess they were not too fond of their workers’ paradise in the “new” Vietnam. The South Vietnamese did not even have as much opportunity to get to a boat as those from the North.
That is so correct. There are many people I personally know who left their "moderate" position in '04 to vote for a second Bush term. I also know a number of people who have been deployed to Iraq that are amazed at the constant "bad news" from the DBM. The troops on the ground don't see what the DBM reports as "fake but accurate" news at best.

“progressive”= socialist=all consuming and all controlling. The real imperialists have been outed.
Missed most on the Sunday Thread. Been lurking whenever possible.
Busy with personal stuff but will read entire site later tonight. Have Tivo’d most shows and get to skip commercials thankfully.
I didn’t see it on this video.

What I was saying is that businesses here would have (and probably did) shut their doors if electricity went off because kids can't count change. They cannot add $.50 and $.50 to make change for a dollar. There have been many times I had to correct kids at stores when they gave me too much or too little change. I can do in my head what they can't read off the cash register.
I use credit cards in major stores to cut the confusion at the register. I used to do most of my shopping with cash, but these days I'd rather use a card and check the screen before I sign for my purchases.
Very interesting links there SL!
Note how Warner’s comment is being described as “dividing” GOP:

Thanks, rodguy911. Gateway Pundit is always worth checking out.
Islam no thanks.
Ironic.
Some delivery drivers and a large number of truck drivers get paid by the load. Locally, a lot of construction related loads-- dirt, rock, concrete, etc..
looks like former Fla. Rep. Foley may not do any jail time after all. (scroll down to piece by Shephard.)
unfortunately people are not taught how to count change even going back to my day at school I was not.
I learned because my parents had a shop before the days of electric tills
Thought it would be similar seeing as a lot of the companies in the UK are US ones such as UPS and Fedex.
