The Talk Shows
Sunday, August 26th, 2007
Guests to be interviewed today on major television talk shows:
FOX NEWS SUNDAY (Fox Network): Sens. Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., and Jack Reed, D-R.I.; former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee.
MEET THE PRESS (NBC): Sen. John Warner, R-Va.; cyclist Lance Armstrong.
FACE THE NATION (CBS): Former Sen. John Edwards, D-N.C., and his wife, Elizabeth.
THIS WEEK (ABC): Sens. Jim Webb, D-Va., and John Cornyn, R-Texas; former Treasury Secretary Lawrence Summers.
LATE EDITION (CNN) : Former Iraqi Prime Minister Ayad Allawi; New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson; Sen. Sam Brownback, R-Kan.; Lt. Gen. Raymond Odierno, the No. 2 U.S. military commander in Iraq; former Sen. Max Cleland, D-Ga.
WHAT? No Levin, Lugar, or Biden today?
It is no secret that Sen.Warner invited himself on sunday show with his idiotic arrogance, which will fill the shameless media waves for a while and nothing-else.
There 's something else - for the last 2 weeks, MTP ratings almost equalled ratingswise with ABC's this week (2.8 mil), down from 3.3 mil - thanks into David Gregory's hosting.
Also, Chris Wallace's last week's ratings came down to 1.02 mil (he was applauded by NYTimes for "aggressive" questioning).
Looks like Fox doesn't care about FNS' ratings. It's test run - "Anchorwoman" debuted & cancelled, because of Ratings - which btw was double of Wallace's. (May be that anchorwoman could sue for discrimination citing Wallace's ratings).
Anyone that missed the first half hour of C-Spam this morning really and truly missed it all.!!
Every once in a while I have second guesses about whether or not what we and many others on the net do here is getting through to the mainstream audiences. Those wonders were dashed today as I watched and heard caller after caller give poor ol' C-spam host Paul Orgel his due.
The topic was New Orleans and the devastation since one of the msm rags was doing a two year annivesary about how Bush did nothing of course.
The callers saw right through all the nonsense and came up with call after call saying why do those bozos build on land 14 feet under sea level what do they expect. What happened to the billions(14 billion in all)that went to build levies where is all the money?
Everyone who saw the buses sitting in NO knew what was going on. Many stayed since they were used to cradle to grave care by the nagan/William Jefferson cold cash types ruling NO and worse yet Louisiana.
Truth is the people of Louisiana are getting exactly what they voted for and continue to vote for-- corruptness every where especiallly in NO which now has a crime rate that is accelleratilng out of control to be expected with crooked dems in charge.
Anyway it was truly reassuring to see all the callers who actually got it what is going on in NO/La and to watch Ogrgel squirm in his chair even though he dared not cut them off or have the switch board really start to smoke.
What we do here and at other sites on the web is in essence to carry the flag for Freedom and Justice to the rest of the country and is a huge counter of the DBM lies. It is getting through and our efforts are not for naught.
Watching cspan, once again they have Mother Jones on and as of yet no “counter balance”. The idiot was talking about New Orleons and that there is NO Presidential leadership for the rebuilding. Can you possibly immagine if the President proposed a rebuilding plan, Senator Landrieu, Mayor Nagin and Gov BLanco would be screaming they he is interfering with state governance. These people are completely unbalanced.
A great caller on just now.....talking about the corruption in LA and it has been the local leadership of the dem party for years that has caused the problems through their corruption. She also said, we know its politically popular to blame President Bush for everything, but the blame does not belong with the President. The look on the host’s face was quite amusing.
Well put, Rod. And congratulations for being last week's topper.
I just love this:
“There are American officials who consider Iraq as if it were one of their villages, for example Hillary Clinton and Carl Levin. They should come to their senses,” al-Maliki said at a news conference.
RE:LATE EDITION (CNN) : Former Iraqi Prime Minister Ayad Allawi;
This is the one to watch. During his term as provisional Prime Minister Allawi was making real progress and was also very popular with the general Iraqi populace, Sunni, Shia and Kurd alike. His problem was that he tried to play things more or less straight and genuinely work towards a unified federal Iraq in which all factions had to give a little to get a little.
Of course, the various partisan factional leaders who each wanted supremacy for their faction didn't like that, so they refused to support him in the next elections. Thus we got al Jafaari, then Maliki, who were both nothing more than puppets for the al Sadr/Iranian controlled theocratic Shia factions.
Allawi's comments could be illuminative, if he is given a proper opportunity by the interviewer. That, of course, is always problematic on these shows.
Time to head off to church. will check back in later. Thanks again AB for your efforts!
Congratulations for your top-3 last week win.
The pre-thread link links to last week’s pre-thread. I’m sure Karl Rove isn’t making the rounds twice.
Her’s one I found on my own just perusing the web:
This is a great piece on media bias.
This time its Tina Susman of the “LA Times”,a usual suspect I know, but still a great read.
scroll down to "latrine time" at the La times. Other great stuff on Iraq. Haditha here as well.
Thanks Rod for the link. I forgot it completely about that link, which I agree is a good one for regular check.
Thanks anita. Yes, media is ramping up for a major Bush bash on Katrina next week. Don’t forget to check out the story I posted last night on the huffpo calling for a military coup to remove the President from office...the leftwing nuts have gone over the cliff. Link is here:
