Rudy Giuliani Candidacy Gaining Traction
Newsmax ^ | August 24, 2007 | Barry Farber

Early in the pre-campaign for the 2008 White House, New York ex-Mayor Giuliani was regarded by those who hate him as one of those gaudy soap bubbles that survives just long enough for you to yell to your brother to hurry on into the bathroom and take a look; but you're confident it will pop and leave a little moist remembrance on the white tile floor without you needing to blow it or poke it.

That was many months ago, and far from popping, the Giuliani candidacy is gaining, sinking mud-cleats into solid political support and grabbing traction. Why? I think I know. And if I'm right it will be the first time I've really learned from history. Never too late.

Rudy fruity better not get up too much speed. It’s going to hurt when he runs into the brick wall of Fred.

Hes going to have to defend his gun policies, his policies toward illegal immigration, all the deals he cut with the labor unions, his public social policy pronouncements, and so on.

Perhaps with the Conservative base.
But with Independents and "Reagan" Democrats, Rudy is going to be hard to beat. Plus, he has a really good chance of taking away one or more blue states from the Hildabeast. If Rudy takes PA,or NJ, or NY or CT, and can win FL, the game is over (for the Dumbocrats).

My sense right now is that Hillary beats Thompson the way her husband beat Bob Dole.

What drugs you took to get to that sense.

Don’t know about you, Bobkk47, but I consider myself part of “the base.” And I’m leaning toward Rudy right now.

Ain't going to happen. The independents and Reagan Democrats are still socially conservative and will support the 3rd party candidate that will run if Rudy's nominated. The die-hard liberals will simply vote for Hillary.

No drugs here, EEE. But one wonders what drugs you take that give you such a snotty insulting attitude toward everyone who disagrees with you.

And you still haven’t explained whether you believe the 64% of American veterans who give Rudy a favorable rating are “fools.” Or perhaps you think they’re on drugs, too?

I'm supporting Mitt and I still think he is going to get the nomination. But, I would support Rudy or Fred should either one of them be nominated. Actually, other than Ron Paul, there is NO Republican that I would not support. After all, look at what the alternative would be.

"We vote nowadays out of fear. And more Americans fear Osama bin Laden than they fear Rudolph Giuliani."

Since when? Most Americans have totally forgotten what they knew on 9/12/01 or how they felt. Now they're convinced in big numbers, both Democrats and some moron Republicans and Inds., that our gov't (Bush and Cheney) had some hand in 9/11.

Unless we have another terror attack or a real close call that shocks voters, not many will be voting on Rudy or anyone else protecting us from terror. The press and the Democrats have made '08 about Iraq, and unless something comes down the pike to change that, nobody is going to be voting for "General Giuliani" to straighten out the war.

Apparently this guy is unable to remember as far back as 1994 and learn the appropriate lessons - the Democrat wins, even Hillary, if you force conservatives to choose between two liberals. It doesn't take very many conservative defections to swing the election. If the Republicans nominate Giuliani, there will be a 3rd party conservative who siphons off enough Republican voters to elect ANY Democrat. AR, WV, and probably OH will all be in the BLUE column if the race is Rudy vs. Hillary; nothing moves from BLUE to RED.

Rudy has shown an ability to lead, fight, and get things done

He sure has. Like making NY a sanctuary city for illegal aliens, denying citizens their god-given right to defend themselves against criminals, using taxpayer dollars to abort babies, dressing in drag, helping the radical gheys legitimize themselves and their agenda, and making it illegal to smoke on private property. Boy, what a great guy.

quite quite unlike the weak, frail, indecisive and comfort-seeking FRed Thompson.

BWAHAHAHAHAHHAHA....HAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Your Plastic Pony candidate has flip-flopped on abortion, gay marriage, and gun control. As far as looks, Fred looks somewhat weathered. Mitt looks like he should be riding bitch in Barbie's pink Corvette.

I have little doubt that he would joyfully support and sign any stupid antigun legislation the libs set before him. You may be able to take the boy out of NYC, but I don’t think you will ever get the NYC out of the boy!
I know you don’t likely want to discuss this in detail, do you?

I was floored when I was visiting relatives and heard a hereditary New Jersey Democrat say that she would vote for Giuliani if he ran. If this is representative of his attraction outside the Pubbie base, then it is something to think about. Carefully.

And I think those Giuliani-haters who expect his supporters to gasp and go take a pill and lie down when they learn about his personal life and his anti-conservative positions are in for the same disappointment as those who thought Bill Clinton's initial run for the White House was doomed by his draft-dodging.

There were those who said that Clinton's draft-dodging was illustrative of a low moral character which would prove harmful to the country if he were elected. They were sure wrong, weren't they, Rudybots????

"The base will not support Rudy the pro-abort, pro-homo RINO."

You're right. Unfortunately, the base, conservatives, are split 8, or 9 ways and the Pro-aborts plus the Log Cabin bunch, and the "conservatives" who want to win and are willing to elect anyone that the press tells them is a winner, are going to be able to coalesce around one candidate. If Fred doesn't get in and suck enough conservatives from the other 8 or so, we're probably sunk.

Hillary will beat Rudy. He could have neutralized her in the last election but was afraid to run against her and he is too weak on WOT. I’m for Hunter but I believe it will be either Mitt or Thompson. Rudy will never win the nomination.

We’ll see about that. My sense right now is that Hillary beats Thompson the way her husband beat Bob Dole.

My sense is that Hillary beats Giuliani about like Reagan beat Mondale.

Frankly, as much as there is a lot I like about Fred, I’d like to have a President without the Southern drawl. I’m getting tired of it.

"Reagan" Democrats

Better check the definition of a "Reagan Democrat" because you are seriously confused if you believe they are going to support ANY Republican who is pro-choice, anti-gun, etc.
