Rudy Giuliani Candidacy Gaining Traction
Newsmax ^ | August 24, 2007 | Barry Farber

Early in the pre-campaign for the 2008 White House, New York ex-Mayor Giuliani was regarded by those who hate him as one of those gaudy soap bubbles that survives just long enough for you to yell to your brother to hurry on into the bathroom and take a look; but you're confident it will pop and leave a little moist remembrance on the white tile floor without you needing to blow it or poke it.

That was many months ago, and far from popping, the Giuliani candidacy is gaining, sinking mud-cleats into solid political support and grabbing traction. Why? I think I know. And if I'm right it will be the first time I've really learned from history. Never too late.

You, of course, are correct.

There will be two candidates in 2008, one GOP and one DIM. One will win, and the other will lose.

I, for one, will vote for any of the GOP candidates ( except Ron Paul) against any of the Dims.

Not only are the Supreme Court and Federal Judgeships at stake, the defense and security of our Nation, the strength and morale of our military, and the growth and viability of our CAPITALIST, market economy lies in the balance.

For me, the choice is easy.

Regardless of his qualifications and abilities, Mitt or any other member of the Mormon Church is not going to be elected President.

That is just a fact of life. To nominate someone with that liability , is, IMO, foolish and dangerous.

Rudy has never been known to go back on his promises. When he promised to do something in NY, it was done.

His views may have evolved and changed from being a big city Mayor to a National candidate, but there is no reason, going back to his early days as a Federal prosecutor against the Mafia (i.e. the Serpico cases) to suppose he will not live up to his promises.

I still wouldn’t vote for him or for Giuliani even if Stalin was on the Dim ticket.

She’s going to be, so I’d suggest you vote Republican for the sake of the country.

When I read the "crossdressing" posts about Rudy, I come to the conclusion that the person posting them isn't to be taken seriously. These posts also present the poster making them as humorless, lacking in sophistication to an alarming degree and dumber than a post.

I've noticed that you "rudybots" are all the same. At a certain point in the discussion when you realize you're not making any headway - you resort to insulting your opponent's intelligence and degree of "sophistication". Then, there are the inevitable threats of a Hillary presidency.....blah......dispersions on the other person's patriotism....blah.....and not-so-subtle innuendo that someone will come and kidnap your family in the dark of the night if you don't vote for Rudy....blah...blah....blah..............ad nauseum...

I'll say this, it takes an idiot to let any party tell them how to vote and to follow the party blindly straight off a cliff. I am a CONSERVATIVE first and a Republican second - and I could care less what happens to the party when they abandon core conservative principles.

It's hard to think about, but sometimes a house rots to the point that it can only be torn down & a new one erected on the spot - it used to be beautiful & sturdy, but neglect has caused it's demise. I don't think anyone can deny this country is headed in the wrong direction and needs to be turned around soon! Politics as usual is not going to accomplish that goal. I owe it to my forefathers that gave their lives for my freedom and to do anything less is to be a traitor to this country. You may choose to stick your head up your butt and leave these problems for the generations that have to follow your selfish existence, but I will not be a part of that. YOU, my insulting FReeper friend, are part of the problem!

As far as your immature comments regarding my bad sense of humor, unsophisticated 'redneckness' and having the DNA of a fence post - way to go! Y'all are makin' a lot of progress with that argument, aren't you?

I have no sense of humor, yet I can't stop laughing! LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL...

Slamming Fred on a Rudy thread. That's a new low for you, if there is such a thing.

He's a bottom feeder. That is, when he's not a remora attached to Mitt's bottom.

Conservatives on their own can’t elect more than a few Congress critters. Aligned with Republicans and a candidate that knows how to appeal to the “middle”, we can conquer the world. Conservatives on their own make for a third party race where they lose, Republicans lose, and communist sympathizers who also sympathize with jihadists take over the government."

I agree, now all you need to do is convince the fools on this forum who would destroy America to make a point.

I've noticed that you "rudybots" are all the same.

I've noticed that you AntiRudyGoons have no idea who's a Rudybot and who isn't.

If Fred Thompson ever announces, he'll have my full support.

At a certain point in the discussion when you realize you're not making any headway - you resort to insulting your opponent's intelligence and degree of "sophistication".

When one sees a Rudy crossdressing reference for the hundredth time from the same poster, one can be assured that it's the person making the reference who isn't making any headway. One can also be assured that the person is a disingenuous, non-thinking droid taking cues from other posters making the same stupid, impertinent reference over and over again.

I'll say this, it takes an idiot to let any party tell them how to vote and to follow the party blindly straight off a cliff. I am a CONSERVATIVE first and a Republican second - and I could care less what happens to the party when they abandon core conservative principles.

You're assuming way to much...and I'll say this, it takes an idiot to assert that if Josef Stalin were running on the Democrat ticket against Barry Goldwater or Rudy Giuliani, he would not vote for Barry Goldwater or Rudy Giuliani (see a few posts up). It also takes an idiot to vote third party when the Democrat candidate is Hillary Rodham Clinton. It takes an idiot to help put this country in the hands of the Democrat Party (which wants to abandon the electoral college and pull out of Iraq, which smears the good name of soldiers doing their jobs at Guantanamo and Hadditha, and which wants to raise taxes on gasoline and income) for eight years.

I'm not part of any problem. I believe in low taxes, supporting Israel, fighting terrorism, having a shot at constructionist judges at the Federal level, balanced budgets, supporting American troops and keeping Hillary Clinton out of the White House at any cost.

As far as your immature comments regarding my bad sense of humor, unsophisticated 'redneckness' and having the DNA of a fence post - way to go! Y'all are makin' a lot of progress with that argument, aren't you?

That isn't an argument. It's an observation, and a true one. Everyone knows Rudy's drag outfit was for a charity event...only an idiot (and a disingenuous one at that) would repeatedly slur the guy as a crossdresser. Congratulations.

That’s the beauty of America, isn’t it? You’re free to call me stupid and I’m free to call you an idiot.

I understand your point, but please try to understand mine. Both parties keep lowering their standards and throwing out ever more unacceptable candidates for us to have to hold our nose & vote for.

Where we have a chance to change that is in the primaries, where we can put some new candidates in the mix. I know you are a Fred supporter, I like Duncan Hunter, but would have no problem voting for Fred. He meets my 75% criteria of people I can agree with.

Rudy does not - he is more like 25% to me, the WOT is the only thing I can agree with him on. NOW IS THE TIME FOR US TO steadfastly REFUSE to allow Rudy to be a candidate for us! We need to send a message that we will not go in the direction of liberals. If the worst occurs, and he is our candidate - in my book it is over for us.

I hate to say it, but I would rather see Hillary elected than Rudy - we would have a chance to overcome that - with Rudy, there is NO chance. The party will be dead and the future bleak. It is painful to think about & we must stress that Rudy cannot be nominated under ANY circumstance! You people need to stop saying you will vote for him over Hillary - you are sending a very bad message to the party. They know they can take your vote for granted.

That is more dangerous than a madwoman in the office, in my book.

Okay, just understand that I'm not advocating a Giuliani nomination or presidency, and I'll tell you where I think you're wrong:

Both parties keep lowering their standards and throwing out ever more unacceptable candidates for us to have to hold our nose & vote for.

I don't think the George W. Bush nomination was a lowering of standards at all...in fact, I think he was an upgrade from his father and Bob Dole, the two previous GOP candidates...and of course all three were far better nominees than their Democrat counterparts (Bill Clinton, who is responsible for 9/11 by virtue of the wall of separation between federal intelligence and enforcement agencies, the lack of courage to sign off on the killing of Osama Bin Laden and the lack of action on the attempted destruction of the WTC via the parking deck; Al Gore, an idiot who was in on illegal fundraising targeting Chinese donors and who wants to bring the American economy down using mythology as science; and John Kerry, who has slandered our troops since The Vietnam War and wants us to pull out of Iraq). I believe that any Republican candidate is far, far better than the Dem nominee, who is Hillary Rodham Clinton...this is a 100% surety.

Where we have a chance to change that is in the primaries, where we can put some new candidates in the mix. I know you are a Fred supporter, I like Duncan Hunter, but would have no problem voting for Fred. He meets my 75% criteria of people I can agree with.

Agreed. I could vote for Duncan, I would support Duncan were he the GOP candidate...absolutely.

Rudy does not - he is more like 25% to me, the WOT is the only thing I can agree with him on.

What? You disagree with Rudy on Supporting Israel? You disagree with Rudy on Lowering Taxes? You disagree with Rudy that overturning Roe vs. Wade via the courts is a legitimate scenario? You disagree with Rudy that offensive art should not be publicly funded? You disagree with Rudy on the issue of dismantling the affirmative action program for NYC contracts? You disagree with Rudy regarding his pro-death-penalty stance? On school vouchers? On energy independence? On Kyoto? On citizenship for Elian Gonzales? On pardoning Scooter Libby? On saying no to socialized medicine? On interrogating terrorists using any means available? On The Patriot Act? On getting rid of the Death Tax? On supporting the ban on partial-birth abortion?

Do you realize that Hillary Clinton's stance on every one of these issues is in direct opposition to Giuliani's?

How does any conservative disagree with Rudy on any of these issues...yet you have just stated that you don't agree with him on any of them! If this is the case, you are, by definition, not a conservative at all!

I hate to say it, but I would rather see Hillary elected than Rudy...

Yes, that is becoming very, very clear.

The party will be dead and the future bleak. It is painful to think about & we must stress that Rudy cannot be nominated under ANY circumstance! You people need to stop saying you will vote for him over Hillary - you are sending a very bad message to the party. They know they can take your vote for granted.

They can take my vote for granted. I am a Republican...and I want to defeat Hillary in the general election...the woman will ruin the country.

I want to defeat every Democrat running for office anywhere in America! They are appeasers, traitors, anti-Military socialist pigs!

That is more dangerous than a madwoman in the office, in my book.

She is no madwoman. She is a methodical, communist attorney bent on the destruction of this country!

NOW IS THE TIME FOR US TO steadfastly REFUSE to allow Rudy to be a candidate for us!

Us? I can't even tell that you're a conservative anymore.

We need to send a message that we will not go in the direction of liberals. If the worst occurs, and he is our candidate - in my book it is over for us.

No. It isn't over for us. The GOP survived Richard Nixon and Gerald Ford...we were given Jimmy Carter as an alternative and he brought down the economy...it took 5 years of a Reagan presidency to get back on track. If Hillary is elected for just one term, the damage will be irreversible.

VOTE FOR THE MOST CONSERVATIVE CANDIDATE POSSIBLE IN THE GOP PRIMARY...BUT VOTE REPUBLICAN...NO MATTER WHAT.
