Your position is most certainly 'liberal' in that (1) you want more laws; and (2) are falling for the media hype that is trying to make you believe that all pit bulls are naturally dangerous.

At which breed to you stop once you start outlawing certain dogs? Many folks who don't know better would mistake an American bulldog for a pit ... do you want to outlaw them too? How about a Staffordshire terrier? What do you think of Mastifs? Then we could go on to Boxer dogs because they bear an amazing similarity to bulldogs? What about smaller breeds that are known to be biters? Where exactly are you and those like you going to stop?

At dogs that have the natural strength, aggressiveness and inbred tenacity to ignore any pain and kill adult humans. That pretty much limits it to pit bull terriers and maybe a half dozen other breeds.

No one is suggesting that Yorkies be outlawed because they are known to nip people once in awhile. There is a big difference between being bitten and being mauled.

Asking for reasonable laws against vicious animals is not a liberal position. Laws are important in this country. Without laws, we have anarchy.

The AK-47 in one's closet doesn't bother me. The porn under one's mattress doesn't bother me. The bong on one's coffee table doesn't bother me.

The vicious animals kept as pets in the neighborhood where I might live bothers me. Why? Because they can't gurantee that these dogs won't escape and attack someone.

And as far as media hype goes. I ain't buying that one either. If MSNBC told me that the sun rises in the east, would that be media hype? I know other dogs bite and kill people just like once in a great while a non-Muslim commits an act of terrorism. But I find it laughable that you people are trying to feed us the "media bias against pit bulls" song and dance. In this case, the media is spot on.
