Every year the famous El Segundo Boulevard “Running of The Pit Bulls” always leads to injuries.

I seem to read a horrible pit bull story on FR or somewhere at least a few times a week.

When are we going to outlaw these dogs? My niece lives near a clown that has a pitbull and it ran out and attacked a dog some girls were walking down the street.

Time to call in Michael Vick to consult on the issue...

Pit bulls should be humanely ended as a breed. (through sterilization).

There are plenty of properly-trained ones who are not much of a threat, but they were bred to be an aggressive breed of dog.

And is there any FR thread about the Georgian plane firing on a Russian one? (this is sort of to 'all').

I have been told, repeatedly, that attacks like this are rare.

The dogs were returned to their owner, who lives in the neighborhood

They should have calmed the dogs with an injection of lead before returning them to the owner.

“A report that two pit bulls were menacing a 16-year-old girl and her 6-year-old brother ... An animal-control officer distracted the dogs with a chemical spray, and the children ran to safety ... No one was bitten”

So, these dogs got maced becasue they were, what, barking? It’s not as if they mauled the kids. Pit Bulls get a bad rap because the press is more likely to print a story about a pit bull attacking someone than, say a German Shepherd.

If you have a mean Pit Bull, it’s almost assured that either the owner or a previous owner made it that way (Vick anyone?) It’s a rare dog that grows up on it’s on to be mean.

Congrats to all of the conservatives here that are falling for the bait that the liberal media is putting out there for you. On most other subjects you wouldn't believe the MSM for a moment, but when it suits your agenda you heartily agree!

Yeah, let's not promote personal responsibility for animal owners and hold them accountable ... let's get our wonderful benovolent government to pass more laws for our own good.

Sheesh.

The dogs were returned to their owner, who lives in the neighborhood, and police issued a citation for violation of the leash law, Ishii said.

1. Why were the dogs returned to owner?
2. Why shouldn’t the owner be responsible for the costs incurred by the woman, the animal control time and effort and the damage in the car wreck?
3. Shouldn’t the owner pay any ambulance and hospital costs?

I’m sick and tired of taxpayers having to pay for the irresponsible actions of others

Ah yes, it’s summertime and the pitbulls are frolicking! I know that area, and there was an attack on a mailman in Torrance recently.

I’m glad that pitbulls weren’t prevalent when my daddy was a mailman. The worst thing that happened to him was a German Shepherd ripping his pants.

A citation and what would they do to you if you left a loaded shot gun laying in the middle of a play ground with the safety off.

Hope the woman with the broke legs get a good attorney!

I love how we always have folks on here to defend the dog of peace. Are most pits fine? Sure but why get a dog that has the destructive potential of a pitbull if it ever snaps? Why not get a lab or a setter or something that couldn’t eat the face of your neighbor or kill your child? l Not to mention the fact that many were bred to fight.

distracted the dogs with a chemical spray

Should have used the stronger chemical spray consisting of large chunks of lead sprayed at high speed. They were chasing a person (whom they probably would have mauled) and all the owner gets is an "off the leash" ticket!

Many years ago, when we lived in California, our neighbors for some unknown reason figured they needed a pit bull. First day our 4 or 5 year old daughter was out in back playing and the dog tried to go through the wood fence to get her. I went next door, told them what happened and told them, “in 24 hours the dog is gone or dead, your call.” The dog was gone.
