"It is truly my opinion that the PB defenders here are unconcerned that PBs have the ability to seriously injure or kill adult humans."

There are more than 75 breeds of Canidae Canis familiaris (dog) capable of seriously injuring or killing adult humans--including the supposedly gentle labrador and golden retrievers, most of the shepherd and mastiff breeds, dobermans, rotties, boxers, large hound groups such as Walkers, Black and Tans, and Blueticks; and practically all of the working and sporting groups. So-called PBTs are blamed for attacks mostly because they are "hot news" items, but in a lot of the cases it wasn't a so-called PBT that committed the deed. My argument is that the American Saffordshire, Staffordshire Bull and Bull Terrier are lumped in as PBTs when most PBTs are the result of cross-breeding (mostly by thugs, criminals and sporting POSs--Michael Vick) of these fine breeds to produce redzone dogs that fight or taught to attack. Well, news flash, I can produce an attack dog that can kill you from a docile Dalmation.

So, be reasonable as well as knowledgeable, and read a little about an Amstaff, Bully or a Staff from reputable sources such as the American Kennel Club. You will see these dogs shown in the show ring each year at Westminister or other great dog shows as well as agility and obedience events. They don't attack other dogs, their handlers or the judges because instant and permanent disqualification, revocation of their breeding endorsement and other penalties will apply.

Kanawa,

Don’t beat yourself up over this. Some are just ignorant over the fact that the HUGE majority of domesticated animals are the product of their upbringing. It is the person on the other end of the leash that has a problem.

I have been keeping off these threads, I wonder how many of the negative poster ever had a dog as a kid.

Kill them all? Bite my shorts.

That is one beautiful dog! Its eyes appear to be the same gold/amber color of my ruby red rednose female. My rednose male is a "peanut butter" brindle w/ piercing blue eyes. I think the breed has the most beautiful eyes of any breed alive.

God bless you for your efforts in rescuing these dogs. I have seen, first hand, so many wonderful loving pit bulls put to sleep because there were just not enough homes for them. We did private rescue for a while, but I had to learn I couldn't save them all. I firmly believe God is taking names and those who mistreat this breed will suffer for it one day.

Count me here as one who completely agrees with you. (And not just about the eyes.)

No, it’s just an opinion. Not an attack. Not a statement of fact. Just the impression I get. It’s not the condemnation you make it out to be or seem to want to turn back on me. I’m not going to sweat it one way or the other. I like dogs. I like my friend’s pit bull and I haven’t said that I want breed specific bans so I feel just fine with my position. And opinions. : )

There you go, kanawa. There's a complete break from reality for you. You can train a dalamation anyway you want and I'll kill the damn thing with my bare hands. You wanted an example? There's an example.

There you go again. Another example of a complete break with the truth that some dogs are far more dangerous than others. It always comes with the qualifier that "it's their upbringing" but this poster, like others, ignores the fact that crazed cocker spaniels can't kill or seriously injure. That's two.

I've got to it the sack so I'll make this quick...

There's a complete break from reality for you. You can train a dalamation anyway you want and I'll kill the damn thing with my bare hands.

You are reacting and not responding. You only focus on the example he has given as the most unlikely dog that would be thought of as killer and you completely ignore the body of his comment. You indeed might be able to kill the dalmation but I tell you this if you're sizeable man you would likely be able to kill any true pit bull as well. I know that I could...might get bit..but I'd kill it. Look at the attacks...how many fatalities are of strong healthy men.. very few. The majority of fatalities are to children and to the aged...those to weak to protect themselves.

Another example of a complete break with the truth that some dogs are far more dangerous than others. It always comes with the qualifier that "it's their upbringing" but this poster, like others, ignores the fact that crazed cocker spaniels can't kill or seriously injure. That's two

She has made a completely true statement. Because she has not included a totally different statement that you wish to see you start freaking out. God damn it man no one is saying that some dogs are not more capable of greater potential damage than others, but there is more to understanding the dynamics of dog attacks then just size of the breed.

Have a good night, I'll no doubt check back in the morning

LOL I don't know why you think I'm "freaking out" but you sound a little excited.

You only focus on the example he has given as the most unlikely dog that would be thought of as killer and you completely ignore the body of his comment.

First, I was giving you an example as per our discussion not responding to his comment at all so the point he was making is irrelevant to that. Secondly, he made the straigtforward claim that he could make a killer out a dalmation. I didn't choose it as "the most unlikely dog that would be thought of as a killer." Furthermore a dalmation is a good sized dog so it definitely is not the most unlikely choice for such an example. It's actually a pretty fair example.

She has made a completely true statement. Because she has not included a totally different statement that you wish to see you start freaking out.

Again, I was not responding to that poster and did not (and have not in any other circumstance) refuted the truth of the statement "it's their upbringing" or other similar statements. I rightly pointed out that it is a statement that ignores the difference between a badly raised fighting dog and a badly raised lap dog. That supports my earlier contention that has got you in such a tizzy. PB fans, like yourself, go out of your way to ignore and deflect from the fact that PBs have qualities and characteristics that make them very dangerous when they attack people. The fact that a few other dogs are too notwithstanding. I have made no judgments about PBs I have just pointed out those facts. Likewise I have made no judgments about you PB fans I have just pointed out the fact that your biases are strong and obvious.

...but I tell you this if you're sizeable man you would likely be able to kill any true pit bull as well.

I'm big enough. 6'2", 155 lbs and a former carpenter so I have good strength in my hands and forearms and know how to manage weight in motion. I also know that my friends old PB with bad hips is far more than I could handle and I would be lucky to just get away or pin it down much less kill it bare handed. But to get back to your point. I will grant that sizeable men can handle a PB. Since I'm pretty close to being one of them I can join you in the sentiment that women, children and old geezers can just carry a 12 ga. or go suck eggs.

Actually, the most vicious of my dogs are the Shih-Tzu/Pit Bull mixes. But they’re really, really cute.

‘Will you retract your statements or make more excuses for them?’

Without reviewing further, my money says ‘more excuses’.
