Rudy is a politician and he understood that survival in NYC meant letting go of those issues which he could not win on anyway

In other words, he is unprincipled liar that became what he had to get elected, sort of like what he is doing now?

Was he letting go of losing issues when he pushed for restrictions on the Second Amendment, filed lawsuits on behalf of illegals and left New York with the second highest debt in the nation other than national debt, too?

Other than taxes and law and order, his record was completely liberal.

Have you ever been to NYC in the 70s, 80s, 90s, or currently?

I'm not a single-issue voter unlike Rudy's supporters apparently are. That he is a law-and-order candidate that will cut taxes but is no different than a typical liberal Democrat on every other issue, isn't acceptable.

Evan Bayh did a pretty good job managing the economy and presiding over Indiana for eight years and had a far more conservative record than RINO Rudy, but I bet if he was running, you wouldn't even think of voting for him.

The Gallup Poll has an interesting analysis of their polling data on name recognition which shows why Rudy is on top at the moment:

I respect your opinion, after all the primaries are for voting for the person that most support your ideals. The general is different, but I also feel that voting is the most important duty we have as citizens, so I would never, ever tell anyone that their vote is dumb.

Having said that, I must ask if people on this forum realize how infantile they sound when they call candidates by childish names (Ruby Julie-Annie,etc)? I really wonder if anyone thinks they can change anyones mind about a candidate by using this sophomoric behavior? "Oh No, there is no way I can vote for Rudy because he must be bad, after all a poster on Free Republic called him Ruby Julie-Annie".

IMO- all that does is turn undecideds against whoever it is you are trying to promote.

My opinion only.

“If Rudy gets the nomination, I predict that most people here will chose to delude themselves and vote for him.”

I disagree. I see a split coming in the party if that happens. It’s gonna be ugly.

“No, some will delude themselves that they are “standing for something” and not vote, thereby electing Hillary.”

This household will not be voting for that F***ING liberal.

We won’t vote for Hillary either.

Not to choose is to choose. WHOEVER the GOP candidate is, the ONLY option in our two-party system is Hillary.

False choice. There is no difference.

Technically, “don’t know” is running second and climbing.

Realize how stupid it is for a grown man to dress up like a woman.

You automatically vote for either the Republican or the Democrat. Not to vote is to vote, no matter who you think you are “not” voting for. Enjoy!

I will vote for whoever wins the GOP nomination, because the country can not afford 4 to 8 years of Hillary.

People who see no difference in Hillary and Rudy are too stupid to vote.

I personally will chose a capitalist over a communist 100% of the time.

It's FAR better to withstand four years of Hillary than eight years of a liberal Republican and/or another Democrat.

The latter returns the nation to the Nixon year, assures there is no stopping any liberal agenda pushed through and guarantees significant losses for the Republican party in Congress. It also guarantess no conservative President in office for eight years.

At least, with Hillary in office, Republicans would block most liberal legislation, gain seats in Congress and the stage for a real conservative revolution.
