Second Red Army murder convict paroled in Berlin

BERLIN - A German court has freed a former Red Army Faction terrorist who was convicted in the 1985 murder of a U.S. soldier and the subsequent bombing of a U.S. air base after 21 years in prison.
Eva Haule, 53, was released from a Berlin prison Friday, the same day that a Frankfurt court announced its decision to grant her parole, said Barbara Helten, a spokeswoman for Berlin’s state Justice Ministry.
Spc. Edward Pimental, a 20-year-old U.S. Army soldier, was shot dead after he left a discotheque in the western German city of Wiesbaden, on Aug. 7, 1985.
The terrorists used Pimental’s ID card to enter the U.S. base in Frankfurt. The next day, a bomb-laden Volkswagen rocked a base parking lot. Two Americans were killed in the bombing and 23 people were injured.
Haule was part of the Red Army Faction’s hardcore in the 1980s but has since renounced violence. She is the second member of the radical group to be paroled this year.
Maybe time for some payback...
