Why are we counting? I’d rather have a running total of the victims of these dirt bags’ murders. Obviously, the victim count would be higher.

I think the national average of death sentences passed per homicide is somewhere between 1% and 2%. That means that for every death sentence passed, there are 50-100 homicide victims. Note I said death sentences passed, not executions carried out. That means that it's probably closer to 300+.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, there were 55,922 murders from 1976 to 2005.
