When one person says something stupid, it's easy enough to laugh it off. But when two people say the same stupid thing, in separate public settings at roughly the same time, it starts to smell funny. New York Knicks guard Stephon Marbury said at an appearance this week: ''We don't say anything about people shooting deers [sic] and shooting other animals, you know what I mean? From what I hear, dogfighting is a sport. It's just behind closed doors, and I think it's tough that we build Michael Vick up and then we break him down.''
And R.L. White, president of the Atlanta chapter of the NAACP, condemned Vick by saying that dogfighting is as bad as hunting.
Huh?

How can you charge a guy for killing a dog when the pound kills them? It seems to me you would charge the guy using the needle on them.
Maybe we could get Vick to kill them himself and then we can charge him for it. Good idea.
You won’t get the culprits. This is a witch hunt. Finding all the participants would be “embarassing” to the authorities. That’s not going to happen.
I know where I can buy a hunting license. Where can I get a dogfighting license?
Someone on TV last night said that’s like comparing playing baseball to beating someone to death with a baseball bat.
I think it was not *THAT Vick killed the dogs, it was *HOW he killed the dogs.
FWIW, grid, bearbaiting, cockfighting, and dogfighting, were prohibited in Great Britain by an act of Parliament in 1835. This isn’t a sudden attack of squeamishness on the part of the politically correct and/or animal rights nuts. Civil societies long ago decided these so-called sports were not to be tolerated.
They were talking about the 50 dogs that are still alive. They want to kill them.
He’s responsible for the end result. If you hit someone in an accident and they have a surgery and during the surgery the doc screws up, you didn’t screw up the surgery, but you could still be liable for it because you set in motion the sequence of events that causes that additional injury. One could counter argue that the surgeon’s neligence was an intervening and superseding cause, but that may or may not absolve the original tortfeasor of his liability.
Even if they can’t charge his for the deaths, send him the bill for having housed them and for having to put them to death. Bottom line is, he caused this to happen and should be held accountable for these dogs as well as the others. Hell, I wouldn’t be surprised if some crafty plaintiffs attorneys rounded up some spectators and came up with some theories like intentional infliction of emotional distress or something.
Considering what they were bred for and how they have been treated, I think that is the only solution.
Should we drown them or hang them?
I think your idea of making him pay to house them is the best idea. Killing them would be too ironic.
And how does Marbury prepare dog for dinner?
Marbury is about the dumbest NBA player today. The dude came up way short on the I.Q. test but has a wonderful gift in his ability to play basketball. Too bad he’s so stupid that all of it will be gone by the time that fool is fifty. He would be well served if someone could tell him to keep his mouth shut when defending criminals like Vick.
I’m into cat fighting. But don’t tell anybody.
How many? Check with the several million illegal alien population and you will find in excess of a million.
I’ve read about that. I’ve heard that people go trolling about for small dogs or cats for the fighting dog to kill.
As far as pit bulls, they were long ago bred for hunting and killing.....that’s it. Even the *nice* ones will kill another dog or cat instinctively. IMO, there's no practical use for animals such as these.
