BALTIMORE (AP) -- The Texas Rangers rounded the bases at a dizzying pace, touching the plate so often it became almost embarrassing to make an out.
The Rangers became the first team in 110 years to score 30 runs in a game, setting an American League record Wednesday in a 30-3 rout of the Baltimore Orioles.
Trailing 3-0 in the opener of a doubleheader, Texas scored five runs in the fourth inning, nine in the sixth, 10 in the eighth and six in the ninth.
It was the ninth time a major league team scored 30 runs, the first since the Chicago Colts set the major league mark in a 36-7 rout of Louisville in a National League game on June 28, 1897, according to the Elias Sports Bureau.

If he is he’s the only one left!
Kinda blew it off when down 0-3, enjoyed the lead when it came.
Local talking heads were laughing about beating the 26-7 lashing that Baltimore gave the stRangers years ago. No one expected anything close to this.
Hope that they saved a few runs for the nightcap.
Typical Rangers - now watch em score 4 runs total in the next six games.
They’ve scored six, but Baltimore has 7.
Global Warming. Isn’t every 100 year old record that’s broken the result of GW?
This is the same team that days before had 17 batters whiff against Julio Santana.
At least it takes the spotlight off of the Phillies’ 15-3 loss to the Dodgers......
Michael Young's a good player, but he's not a difference maker worth $16 million a year.
Reads like a football score .... the Hawks got beat by Green Bay 48 to 13 ..... but then there’s seven points per score (counting field goal) which would have been equivalent to about 6 to 1 which doesn’t sound all that bad .....
Now there’s a ball game!...no time to take a wizz!
They figured if they were losing with a lot of high priced "talent", they'd be ahead if they were losing with a lower cost payroll, so they got rid of most of non-performing stars, and brought up their minor league players.
The Rangers are slipping, they’ve only scored 9 runs in the nightcap.
Which proves the adage, "It's the Pitching, Stupid"! ;^)
Just glad they didn’t do this when they played my Royals.
For Royals fans, times they are a changin’. The signs are all there and it’s going to be exciting to be a Royals fan.
They’ve scored as much as Mike Modano. (check your pings)
:-)
What is the record for most runs by one team in a doubleheader? The Rangers have 39, so that’s got to be real close.
