Agreed. I, for one, don’t hold much for those that desert their own country instead of staying and fixing things.

Like us in the United States and how we tolerate income taxes??? Americans have not fixed that yet, and like sheep they continue to pay the tax and tolerate politicians who perpetuate the corrupt system. It is much easier to move to greener pastures.

"... emigration is driven by a perceived decline in UK quality of life, with congestion, queues, overcrowding and general 'lack of space'...."

Curious. No mention of that elephant in the parlor. You know, the one wearing a hijab-thingy.

"That’s just how the US lost all its cities."

Yup. My thoughts too...they've become 3rd world enclaves too dangerous to enter.

If I was a rational British citizen, I’ll leave as well. The country is too statist.

While I'm at it:

"The number of Britons emigrating in the 12 months to July 2006 reached 385,000... Almost 200,000 of those leaving for a year or more were British citizens ... and the rest were foreign nationals returning home or going elsewhere."

Perhaps someone could explain how on God's green sceptered isle "foreign nationals" -- especially the ones "going home" -- can be construed as "Britons." Or maybe the Torygraph is just channelling the AP copydesk staff.

You will find that many of the Brits here on FR are in denial.

Britain is Islamizing, and Brits have had enough. Unfortunately for them, running to France or Spain wont solve that, as they’re being flooded too.

I look for Australia’s population to climb by 10 million over the next couple of decades because of Brit expats.

Ay yi yi.... I had pretty much set-in-stone plans to move to the UK but maybe I should rethink it.

Sadly enough I don’t hear any of our politicians mentioning the danger of Islam to our society. All I notice is how we grant Islam privileges not given to other religions and how we are informed that Islam is a ROP.”

Your post is answering my question about the ethnic makeup of British emigrants from one of your other posts.

Lots of numbers here, but I still see no way to analyze the number of Britons who are naturalized or born to immigrants.

The reason I bring this point up is the fear many here at FR have about the dissolution of national character in Western countries. The posts suggest to us xenophobes that ethnic Britons are fleeing the invasion of Asians, many who become citizens by birth or naturalization. However, that may be an illusion as the articles do not give any breakdown on the ethnic makeup of the emigrants. The only ethnic discussion is about foreign nationals, not citizens.

Who wants to live in a country that hates itself and its history?

When the Archbishop of Canterbury starts saying that allowing for Sharia within British law is a good idea, you know it's about time to either fight or flee.

Sounds like many are choosing the latter option.

I agree. However, my overall sense is that the majority are (R1b) 'Celtic' Brits.

I think Britain’s moral decline has more to do with this than anything else.

There is a very prevalent ex-pat culture inside Britain and out.

It usually goes along the lines: use the UK for an idyllic childhood and an excellent education (especially at private schools). Get on the property ladder and buy/sell until your head spins and even you can’t remember your current address. When you cash out move to Spain, France, Australia or even the States. Spend the rest of your years missing Britain terribly but refusing to return due to the devastation resulting from lax immigration and tax policy while slagging off your adopted country’s government.
