Oh man, who would have thought that such a music video existed. What a great performance (and a crowd pleaser too). There really is a philosphical message in The Itsy Bitsy Spider.

Edmund Fitzgerald.

That's the first one that came to mind for me. Also Richard Corey, Cats in the Cradle,

[G] The cruel war is [Em] raging,
[Am] Johnny has to [G] fight I [C] long to be [Am]
with him, from [C] morning till [G] night

I want to be [Em] with him, it [Am]
grieves my heart [G] so Won't you
[C] let me come [Am] with you?
[C] No, my love [G] no

Tomorrow is Sunday, Monday is the day
That your captain will call you and you must obey
Your captain will call you, it grieves my heart so
Wont you let me come with you?
No, my love no
I'll tie back my hair, men's
clothing I'll put on

I'll pass for your comrade as we march along
I'll pass for your comrade, no one will ever know
Won't you let me come with you?
No, my love no

Oh Johnny,
oh Johnny, I feel you are unkind
I love you far better than all of mankind
I love you far better than words
can eer express
Won't you let me come with you?
Yes, my love yes

They marched into battle, she never left his side
'Til a bullet shell struck her and love was denied
A bullet shell struck her, tears came to Johnny's eyes
As he knelt down beside her, she silently died

Other titles
"My grandfather's clock",

And one that hits home and makes me cry every time I hear it - Kathy Mattea "Who's gonna know (but me)"
When I'm all that's left of this family of 3,
Who's going to know but me."

Original Lyrics written by J. Robbie Robertson
******************************************************************

Virgil Caine is the name and I served on the Danville train
‘Til Stoneman’s cavalry came and tore up the tracks again
In the winter of ‘65, we were hungry, just barely alive
By May the tenth, Richmond had fell, it’s a time I remember oh so well

The night they drove Old Dixie down and the bells were ringing
The night they drove Old Dixie down and the people were singin’, they went
La-la-la la-la-la, la-la-la la-la-la, la-la-la-la

Back with my wife in Tennessee, when one day she called to me
“Virgil, quick, come see, there goes Robert E. Lee!”
Now I don’t mind choppin’ wood, and I don’t care if the money’s no good
Ya take what ya need and ya leave the rest
But they should never have taken the very best

The night they drove old Dixie down and the bells were ringing
The night they drove old Dixie down and all the people were singin’, they went
Na-na-na na-na-na, na-na-na na-na-na, na-na-na-na

Like my father before me, I will work the land
And like my brother before me, who took a rebel stand

He was just eighteen, proud and brave
But a Yankee laid him in his grave
I swear by the mud below my feet
You can’t raise a Caine back up when he’s in defeat

The night they drove old Dixie oown and the bells were ringing
The night they drove old Dixie down and all the people were singin’, they went
Na-na-na na-na-na, na-na-na na-na-na, na-na-na-na

The night they drove old Dixie down and all the bells were ringing
The night they drove old Dixie down and the people were singin’, they went
Na-na-na na-na-na, na-na-na na-na-na, na-na-na-na

DFU SONG: Battle of New Orleans (election battle of 2002) 11-7-02
DFU SONG PARODIES | 11-2002 | Lyrics, Doug from Upland

MIDI - BATTLE OF NEW ORLEANS

It's 5 November in 2002
The RATS thought in the Senate that the right wing would be through
The Sinkmaster was out there…he campaigned in many towns
Tell me when will we be finally through with that big red-nosed clown

They never saw the tsunami that would hit 'em
They couldn't get their message out no matter how they tried
Though big mouth Terry said that he would get 'em
Before the night was over he was thinking suicide

Sununu had started it as he waxed Jean Shaheen
She had screamed and then she held her breath until she's turnin' green
And then we swept Georgia as we're really on a roll
The bladders of the RATS they could no longer quite control

They never saw the tsunami that would hit 'em
They couldn't get their message out no matter how they tried
Though big mouth Terry said that he would get 'em
Before the night was over he was thinking suicide

Our House hero Lindsey pulled ahead and won the fight
Liddy Dole had posted numbers that were really out of sight
Jeb came through big time…Jesse flew into a rage
And just like Reno'd done before him, McBride passed out on the stage

They never saw the tsunami that would hit 'em
They couldn't get their message out no matter how they tried
Though big mouth Terry said that he would get 'em
Before the night was over he was thinking suicide

Well, the NOW gang was screaming abortion was over
And the Greenies had cried that all the Earth would be destroyed
I guess George Bush isn't really so stupid
He'd beaten all the tricks that his detractors had employed

Move to Colorado…it's protected well by Wayne
Cornyn snuffed out loser Kirk…and Talent's causing them such pain
When Fritz lost Minnesota, his world record's really great
The ancient warrior lost his butt in every single state

They never saw the tsunami that would hit 'em
They couldn't get their message out no matter how they tried
Though big mouth Terry said that he would get 'em
Before the night was over he was thinking suicide

Well, the NOW gang was screaming abortion was over
And the Greenies had cried that all the Earth would be destroyed
I guess George Bush isn't really so stupid
He'd beaten all the tricks that his detractors had employed
