Clinton urges ouster of Iraq's al-Maliki
By BETH FOUHY, Associated Press Writer 28 minutes ago
Hillary Rodham Clinton said Wednesday the Iraqi Parliament should replace embattled Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki with a "less divisive and more unifying figure" to reconcile political and religious factions.
Clinton, the 2008 Democratic presidential front-runner, made her comments the same day President Bush reaffirmed his support for al-Maliki before a veterans' convention in Kansas City, Mo.
In a statement released by her Senate office, Clinton echoed a call by Senate Armed Services Committee Chairman Carl Levin for Iraq's Parliament to oust al-Maliki in favor of a leader who could restore order to Iraq's unity government.
"During his trip to Iraq last week, Senator Levin ... confirmed that the Iraqi government is nonfunctional and cannot produce a political settlement because it is too beholden to religious and sectarian leaders," Clinton said. "I share Senator Levin's hope that the Iraqi Parliament will replace Prime Minister Maliki with a less divisive and more unifying figure when it returns in a few weeks."
Clinton voted in 2002 to authorize military action in Iraq and has since become a staunch critic of the conflict. She traveled to Iraq just before beginning her presidential campaign in January and expressed reservations about al-Maliki's leadership upon her return.
In a speech before the Veterans of Foreign Wars convention, Bush reiterated support for al-Maliki a day after expressing frustration with the Iraqi leader's inability to bridge political divisions in his country.
"I support him," Bush said. "It's not up to the politicians in Washington, D.C., to say whether he will remain in his position. It is up to the Iraqi people who now live in a democracy and not a dictatorship."

There fixed.......
Can we send that bitch to Iraq to replace him? If she wants a socialist state, might as well give her a fresh slate to start with!
“Hillary Rodham Clinton said Wednesday the Iraqi Parliament should replace embattled Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki with a “less divisive and more unifying figure” to reconcile political and religious factions.”
This makes me laugh a bit, as there is probably no more divisive figure in American politics than Hillary. Yet she thinks that a prime minister in Iraq should be a unifying figure. Does she think that presidential candidates in our country should be unifying figures? Is she against divisive figures running for president?
clinton can got to hell!
What part of Sovereign Country doesn’t HilaryCare understand?? The Surge is Working and our congress Isn’t!
Pray for W and Our Troops
I recall that she also said Bill Clinton should resign if it were true that he lied about not having sex with that woman.
Well?? What happened with that?
Who asked Hillary’s opinion, anyway?
Eight or nine years ago, wasn’t her crew screaming about the evils of “overturning the results of a national election”?
LOLOLOL!!!
Hillary was so shocked to find out the truth about Monica Lewinsky and Bill that she could hardly breathe, she said.
And the whole thing was made up by the vast right wing conspiracy that had been plotting against Bill since he declared he was running for pres. the first time.
Hillary’s a smart person, but, does she really think that all of the opposition to Bill and her is due to a vast right wing conspiracy? Isn’t it just possible that there are vast numbers of people who oppose them on their stands on the issues? Or oppose what they stand for, which is liberal socialistic policies? Or that some people are not comfortable with another 2 for 1 presidency, or have vague thoughts that Bill is going to think it’s his 3rd term in office?
I wanted her husband replaced and nobody listened. Maybe China would still be struggling to do R&D on hi tech missles if we had canned than nitwit? He put Communist China 25 years ahead in technology. Thanks Hillary.
This political hag will never figure out what makes America tick.
Had she not married bubba she'd be nowhere. It just slays me to think of the absurdity of anyone giving her any credit for knowing what this country is all about.
I will never forget Georgie Stephanopolus's reaction when he first heard she wanted to run as a senator. He was incredulous, and found it laughable. I thought that his reaction was very telling.
Not once would she suggest that happening in a communist country...
I don’t have a lot of faith in al-Maliki, but I have much less in Clinton.
Never really liked what democracy means, has she?
Nor apparently does she have any regard for foreign sovereignty either.
