Drunk driver’s immigration status not “irrelevant” to grieving mother

Felinda Williams couldn’t make herself go to court on a recent morning, couldn’t bring herself to look at the man accused of driving drunk and killing her daughter, her son-in-law and her 2-year-old grandson.

She knows few details of the Aug. 11 crash in Houston that killed the newlyweds and the little boy nicknamed “Peanut Butter.” She does know that her daughter didn’t die on impact. The young woman, according to reports, felt the flames and begged helpless bystanders to pull her free.

The grieving woman knows two things about Juan Felix Salinas, the man charged in connection with their deaths: She knows his name, and she knows he was in the U.S. illegally, out on bail after an earlier arrest.

“He’s been through the courts and the jail before, and nobody caught it,” Williams said. “If they’d caught it, he would have been in jail or deported, and then he wouldn’t have been out there on the streets, and my babies would still be alive.”

We might as well accept that this isn't going to stop, and that more and more of us will die or be maimed.
The smug elites ride around in limos and private jets - so what do they care?
Not enough ordinary Americans are crying out about this slaughter.

I'm not big on the idea of "grief counselers"...but I suspect a few
of those bystanders probably could use some of "the talking cure"
after experiencing that.

Some smart lawyer the deceased's mother to sue for wrongful death
and pain-and-suffering...just to be sure the perp will be broke all
the rest of him miserable life.
And the bystanders should hit him (and whoever didn't keep him
locked up due to his immigration status) with a class-action
mental-suffering suit.

He’s extremely defensive about the issue and he’s fervently pro-illegal aliens. Isn’t that special?

I wonder where is Geraldo on this one ??

Geraldo has been asked this many times and always replies that the immigration status is of no relevance because Americans do the same thing. In other words he refuses to answer. It is beyond my comprehension why anyone would allow Geraldo to appear on their show.

That is the most retarded response. So, we have our own criminals but we need to keep importing/retaining even more????

Geraldo predicts this will be the top; issue in’08, but the illegals will be gone before then. We don’t have to round them all up, just scare them and they take off.

Completely!! Cut off at least some “welfare” - like we voted to do in AZ but which the liberals haven’t exactly enforced. Catch more than a token three at a time in some remote factory, and the other criminals will get the message!

Juan Felix Salinas

Wreck suspect here illegally, officials say (killed family of three)

By MIKE GLENN Houston Chronicle - August 2007

A man accused of causing a fiery wreck that killed a family of three on the East Freeway is in the country illegally, authorities said. Juan Felix Salinas, 42, voluntarily returned to his home in Nuevo Leon, Mexico, two years ago, officials said. But he returned to the U.S., eventually making his way back to the Houston area.

Salinas remained in police custody Monday, charged with three counts of intoxication manslaughter in the deaths of Tenisha Williams, 26; her husband, S.J. Williams; and her son, Xavier Brown, 2. His bail has been set at $90,000 — $30,000 for each death.

Houston police said Salinas was speeding and rapidly changing lanes about 8:30 p.m. Saturday when he rear-ended a Toyota Corolla in the 8700 block of Interstate 10. The Toyota caught fire and eventually was engulfed in flames. The family was pronounced dead at the scene. Salinas, who suffered minor injuries in the wreck, had a blood-alcohol level of .24 — three times the .08 legal limit for intoxication in Texas.

When the van slammed into the Toyota, Salinas had been free on bond from a March 31 family violence incident in Jacinto City. The case remains open, authorities said.

On Saturday, bystanders struggled to save the young family. Some used hand- held fire extinguishers to hold back the flames while others attempted to pry open the doors. Felinda Williams said she was grateful to everyone who tried to save her daughter, grandson and son-in-law. "At least somebody cared enough," a grieving Williams said Monday. "They put themselves in danger trying to help them." Williams said she will closely follow the case against Salinas as it progresses. "When he's in court, I'm going to be in court," she said. "He tore a whole family apart."

Current federal law 8USC 1373(a) PROHIBITS SANCTUARY CITIES. It reads as follows:

"Notwithstanding any other provision of federal, state, or local law, a federal, state, or local government entity or official may not prohibit, or in any way restrict any government entity or official from sending to, or receiving from, the Immigration and Naturalization Service information regarding the citizenship or immigration status, lawful or unlawful, of any individual."

RICO and all the other stuff notwithstanding, what you have posted is more than sufficient for the sanctuaries to be held liable in a civil suit by having denied lawful notification to the feds in cases like these. The sanctuaries have obstructed justice in hundreds of thousands of cases to the detriment of victims of the crimes of illegal aliens.

The “or receiving from” clause appears to negate any validity or cover of “don’t ask, don’t tell” excuse.

But it has to begin with a president who wants to enforce migra laws. Ours doesn't.

U.S. Constitution, Article 4 Section 4:

"The United States shall guarantee to every State in this Union a Republican Form of Government,

and shall protect each of them against Invasion;"

Invasion: \In*va"sion\, n. [L. invasio: cf. F. invasion. See Invade.] [1913 Webster]

1. The act of invading; the act of encroaching upon the rights or possessions of another; encroachment; trespass.

I don’t think so, not for a civil suit and judgement against sanctuary cities or states. Neither do a bunch of lawyers who have discussed this with Tom Tancredo. Just a matter of time, now.....a couple of multimillion dollar payoffs to victims or their families from the sanctuaries taxpayers will bring sanctuaries to a screeching halt.
