Skips some facts on healthcare law
On the presidential campaign trail, Mitt Romney points to healthcare reform as his major achievement as Massachusetts governor, presenting the plan as an example of how he used conservative principles to provide affordable health insurance for all state residents without a government takeover.
But he does not mention aspects of the plan that may hold less appeal for his Republican audiences. For example, he decries "socialized medicine" and says the Massachusetts plan is "all a private initiative, a private-based, market-based healthcare" -- omitting the fact that the state and federal governments subsidize much of the overall cost and that a public board negotiated the benefits and prices that private insurers now offer.
He wows audiences by telling them that premiums for individuals dropped from $350 a month to $175 a month, without clarifying that those figures are for the lowest-cost plan available for 37-year-olds and without mentioning that for many people, especially the elderly, premiums can be several hundred dollars more.
And he sometimes downplays the role that Democrats on Beacon Hill had in putting together the final plan.
The Massachusetts healthcare law is exceedingly complicated, and it would be difficult for Romney to explain all the nuances in a town hall-style meeting, or in TV or radio advertisements...[click link below to read further glosses of the Romney record...]

Another leftwing Globe article.
The more they hate him, the more that any conservative shouldn’t.
Is that all the Boston Glob prints any more? Anti-Romney hit pieces seem to be their stock-and-trade.
Mitt is a lefty dressed up like a decent human being.
Lisa Wangsness? Boy, if I were her, I’d go back to the name store and demand a refund.
Reminds me of the Dukakis “Massachusetts Miracle”, which lost it’s sheen long before he lost his bid for the Presidency.
Is this the “Attack the Messenger Strategy” I’ve heard
so much about?
Is that because the facts don’t support Mitt? If you have
any, I’d like to see them.
Ok ok Globe describes Mitt’s government subsidized health care and because the Globe does not like Mitt...conservatives should? huh?
“Mitt is a lefty dressed up like a decent human being.”
It’s true that Mitt is more liberal than I’d like — just as President Bush is a good deal more liberal than I ‘d prefer. That said, when these leftist columnists take such great pains to warn conservatives about him, I suspect it’s because they fear him — and that speaks well of the man.
There can be no criticism of their annointed one.
They even refuse to read anything that might be critical of him.
They simply ignore the facts and attack the messenger.
Any columnist that saw him in action in Mass. and reported on him for years can now compare his words with those actions.
Is anything they printed not true, or is attacking people who tell th e truth about romney the only way to defend him?
Never, ever believe anything you read in the Boston Globe; it’s owned by the NYTs, and EVERYTHING they print is to enhance the liberal DNC agenda.
The TIMES and GLOBE are nothing but mouthpieces for the far left.
Are we, as FReepers, justified in dismissing hit pieces from ABC/NBC/CBS/CNN et al? I think we are, because they're obviously biased. For the same reasons, the Boston Glob is to be believed about as far as you can throw their building.
When the "messenger" distorts and spins facts to smear someone they don't like, they should absolutely be a target. Don't pretend the Glob is some neutral party simply passing along important facts.
Yep. He ain’t my favorite. But he’s my favorite of the so called top-tier candidates. Mainly because he is whom the enemedia seems to hate the most.
I ask again, when did the Boston Globe start reporting reality!?
He certainly isn't telling the whole truth.
Oh, and the Boston Globe is now reporting the truth!? Since when?
You've really got to examine your own position if you're constantly quoting from, defending, and consider truthful a leftist piece of trash like the Boston Globe.
Lisa Wangsness and The Globe are so concerned over these Republicans being fooled by Romney, the last thing they would ever want is for a RINO to gain the GOP nomination. Thus the Globe is a veritable mill of anti-Romney hit pieces. Uh,huh.
Were Romney as liberal as the Globe (and the Globe's Freeper fans) purport, there would be nothing but Romney puff-pieces.
You can always depend on the MSM's ideological evaluation of a Republican candidate. As a bear does your food, the MSM can sniff out a RINO from a mile away. By glowing MSM coverage you will know RINO's. If the MSM's RINOdar identifies a conservative, then you'll get the daily hit piece such as leads this thread.
Ha ha ha ha! This is classic!
