SEATTLE -- The Washington state ferry Puyallup was evacuated Wednesday morning at Colman Dock in Seattle after a crew member found what they deemed to be a suspicious package on board.
The 460-foot Puyallup had just been emptied of cars and passengers after arriving at Colman Dock from Bainbridge Island about 8 a.m. when the bag of sparklers was found behind the toilet in the disabled passenger stall in the men's restroom.
Following a search and examination by State Patrol troopers, the 2,500-passenger, 202-vehicle ferry was cleared to resume service about 9 a.m.
The Puyallup delay was the second ferry disruption during the morning commute. Less heavily used runs between Point Defiance in Tacoma and Tahlequah at the south end of Vashon Island were canceled until midmorning after about a dozen cracks were found during the wee hours in the state ferry Rhododendron.
The 48-car Rhododendron, built in 1947 and rebuilt in 1990, was taken to Eagle Harbor on Bainbridge Island after the chief engineer noticed the cracks in a 12-foot by 10-inch section on the starboard side about five feet above the water line, Coursey said.
The cracks ranged in width from a pinhole to a gap big enough for a finger and were near the rub rail, a ridge that is the first part of the boat to contact the dock.
The 34-car ferry Hiyu, built in 1967, was dispatched to resume service between Point Defiance and Tahlequah after 10 a.m.
Warning! This is a high-volume ping list.
ME types - always peaceful - testing and probing to see if we can scan for oxidizer, and metal powders, perhaps?
Dry run.
I hope that the moonbats in Seattle finally see that the enemy they love (al qaeda) wishes to kill them.

Likely trying to learn our emergency response procedures. Who comes, how many, how fast, what do they bring, etc.
what was it last week some university students got busted with “fireworks” in there car back east, turns out they also had pipe bombs too.

looks harmless huh... good way to light stuff on fire actually
Totally agree. What “disabled” person would be carrying a bag of sparklers, and just happen to leave them “BEHIND” the toilet.
Nothing coincidental about this one, IMHO.
If you are testing the waters, so to speak, you don't start with a drum of ammonium nitrate!
Just saying...
Or not...
That's all I'm saying.

Yup
Far more likely that it was an "Indian Reservation Fireworks Run." It's not at all uncommon for folks thereabouts to visit one of the many nearby reservations to buy fireworks.
Betcha dollars to donuts that some kid went to the can, put his fireworks down to take a pee, and forgot them there. You can bet that his family won't be making a claim on the bag....
Most people don’t go to the Indian Reservations to buy “sparklers.” They’re looking for things a LITTLE MORE POWERFUL....
They used a sparkler as a fuse, but I wonder what the explosive was? It wasn't sparkler material.
According to another source, they were also wrapped up in carpet.
TEST RUN.
Earlier information from law enforcement officials indicating that the package contained sparklers was erroneous
