The President has finally taken the gloves off and gave the leftists who are hopeful of defeat a left to the face and a right to the jaw.

Obviously the Dems are no longer a loyal political opposition, they are the enemy, along with their enemy moles in the CIA, DOD, State and Justice.

And their media monopoly on unamerican propaganda are helping them.

I heard Rush play a John Kerry sound-bite where he said a “little re-education camp isn’t so bad.”

Excellent speech. As an aside, I wonder if there’s a transcript of Hillary’s speech yesterday showing the applause, as this one does. I also wonder if she got any applause.

I recognize that history cannot predict the future with absolute certainty. I understand that. But history does remind us that there are lessons applicable to our time. And we can learn something from history. In Asia, we saw freedom triumph over violent ideologies after the sacrifice of tens of thousands of American lives -- and that freedom has yielded peace for generations.

Great point! History always repeats, same war, same problems, just different players. The question is do we repeat the mistakes of the past or do we apply the victories.

At the end of the Tet Offensive Walter Cronkite met with Westmooreland and other military leaders. He was told that the Tet offensive was a massive failure for the NVA. The VC had been basically wiped out and the NVA could no longer support offensive action. The war was lost for the communist.

Later that night Cronkite went on the air with his "CBS News Special Report from Vietnam" and told the American people that "no matter how noble the cause may have been, the US can no longer achieve any of the goals that we set out to achieve in Vietnam, seems now more certain than ever that the bloody experience of Vietnam is to end in stalemate. ". We all know what happened next.

A talking head from the liberal left dictated American foreign policy based on his political beliefs by using the power of perceived "unbiased news". Do we learn from that? So far the administration has done a terrible job of fighting back against the idealogical media. The President needs to make this speech over and over again until it drowns out the chatter from the left.

President Roosevelt knew there was a lot of bad news during the beginning of the war, we were doing badly in the Pacific, we were doing badly in Africa. Through out the war everyday people all over America were receiving Telegrams notifying them that their loved ones were dead. It could have been very easy (especially for a country who had always demanded that we stay out of Europe's wars) for the American people to lose hope and demand we make peace or get out. Roosevelt knew what the consequences of that would be so to combat that every night he had his "fireside chats" and spoke frankly to the American people so they all understood the stakes and what the sacrifice was worth.

Bush needs to come up with some type of "fireside chats".

The five minute newscasts this afternoon are already slamming him for bringing up Vietnam. I listened to the speech carefully this morning, and just read it, and cannot find what I think I heard the reporter claim that President Bush said. They are such liars, they are flat out just making up stuff now.

“Why did he want to reference one quagmire by supporting another quagmire.” is part of what they said. The word “quagmire” was not in his speech!
