China says US soybeans unsafe (oh, brother)

China said Wednesday it had discovered many safety problems with soybeans imported from the United States, urging US authorities to deal with the problem.

"Inspection and quarantine units in various areas have discovered a large number of quality and safety problems with imports of US soybeans," the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine said.

"We have reported this to the US side, demanding that it look into the causes and adopt effective measures to ensure that a situation like this does not repeat itself," it said on its website.

It detailed a series of safety problems, including the discovery of sorghum halepense and other exotic harmful weeds among the soybeans.

There was no mention in the statement of any plan to restrict or halt imports of US soybeans.

Recent global scares over the safety of China's exports -- ranging from toys to clothes to toothpaste -- have not made major headlines in the nation's state-run media.

However, frequent reports have emerged about safety problems in goods imported into China, especially from the United States.

On Monday, China said it had returned 272 heart pacemakers imported from the United States after they failed quality inspections.

The Xinhua news agency quoted the general administration as saying the pacemakers posed potential threats to patients' lives as they could cause misdiagnoses.

Not enough lead in them for the discriminating Chinese pallet?

It didn’t quite have the metallic taste they expected.

If you dare tell the truth about communist China , they’ll lie about you.

Ooh! Ooh! Please say it isn't so. Oh, it is?

Oh, well, next topic.

The soybeans are so tiny they could choke a child who plays with his food.

That’s fine, China. Go ahead and send back the faulty pace makers. I’m sure you can make them yourselves for half the price. And without all those stinking regulations on the use of toxic chemicals.

Yeah, China, you’re probably right. Okay then, here’s the deal: You no longer buy our soybeans, and we’ll stop buying your crappy lead painted dolls.

Works for me.

Is there some way we can have free trade with everybody BUT the genocidal Red Chinese? This isn’t working out too well.

Yeah, the US soybeans are deficient in the endless toxic waste and fecal contamination the Chinese are accustomed to in their normal diet.

No soybeans = no soy sauce.

No soy sauce = no kung pow chicken.

Sorghum halepense, also known as Johnson weed, is a difficult to eradicate.

However, it only has toxic effects on ruminants and other animals that consume large quantitites of it over a long period of day-long grazing.

I (a Ph.D.-level scientist with training in pharmacology and toxicology) could find no reference to toxicity in humans, and, given that the imported soy beans in question apparently are destined to be processed into food products for human consumption, the protestations of the Chi-Coms are spurious indeed....

Hey ChiComs, you were never able to produce enough food to feed your sorry and always hungry asses, just like all your fellow comrades (Soviets, Cuba, N Korea etc.), so instead of our soybeans eat worms and dirt as you did most of your past lousy history.

We can make better use of our soybeans converting them to fuel, since we do not eat this s*it anyway.

As for faulty pacemakers, it is prudent to test such medical devices prior to implantation. Their testing methods are likely to be less than state-of-the-art. They’re probably p!$$ed that they can’t re-use them repeatedly....

Yeah, that's the truth...the soybeans are probably too bland for their taste without those added ingredients that they're apparently use to consuming.

If they didn't publicize it, how did they explain the execution of one guy and the suicide of another?
