Did you catch that? Let me say it again:
Treaties are ratified by the Senate.
Nothing involving an eeeeevil North American superstate will come to pass without it getting through Congress and the swarms of W-haters therein first.

I go to a presbyterian church inside the beltway dc. About half the congregation is open borders and half is not. the subject is not discussed. Yet the subject is as profound as the issues that led up to the civil war. that war divided all the mainline protestant congregations between their northern and southern branches for 100 years.

Not true. Trade agreements must pass both houses of congress, and NAFTA was almost defeated in the House of Reps., but for a few last minute deals with specific congressmen promising protection for industries in their districts.
And, unless fast track authority is in place (I don’t think it is at present) congress can contest every line of a trade agreement.
This SPP might result in an agreement rather than a treaty. It’s hard to say with so little information being given out.

The president called for a “temporary worker card” to allow employers to hire foreign workers legally. He said he strongly opposed a plan for amnesty, favored by Kerry, which would grant citizenship to illegal immigrants who have been in the country for many years.
This is what Bush has said all along! He has always "denied" it was amnesty, but that's what it was/is. The point is, that he's always been consistent.
Anyone who voted for Bush in 2004 thinking he was going to "reform" immigration in a conservative way was deluded, to put it bluntly. I always knew that Bush's policy was for "temporary legal status" with a "path TO citizenship" not "automatic citizenship". That's how it's *technically* not amnesty, but of course in reality it is.
The point isn't whether or not it's really amnesty. The point is, Bush's message has always been consistant. I KNEW when I voted for him in 2004 that he would try to get this type of "reform" passed. I also KNEW that there would be such a backlash, from both conservative AND liberal alike, that there was NO way it was going to happen. I've said this repeatedly on this forum actually, LONG before his bill WAS defeated.
The point is though, that he didn't lie about anything. He put it out there, IN 2004, EXACTLY what he was going to do, and he did it (or tried to) this year. No surprises, no lies, just like with the "superhighway".
I see there's another thread with World Nut Daily spin about this topic. And that's what it is. To say that a "mocking reply" is no reply (or denial) at all, is to say that, "If I ask the President if the moon landings were faked, and he LAUGHS at me, that PROVES they were because he won't give the question the 'serious attention' it deserves".

That's right. It's nothing but another interstate highway in TX and it's a LOCAL problem.
Maybe you need to do some checking to see just WHO the people are who gave away the Panama Canal to allow the Chinese to take it over. You just might discover they're the same people who want to divide the country in half with a superhighway from Mexico into Canada so the Chinese can reach Canada with their goods from their port in Mexico with greater ease. You also might discover with just the tiniest bit of research who the appeasers are who think it's a fine thing for Iran and Hugo to hook up and that we should make nice with both of them so they'll like us better. We wouldn't want to make them mad at us, would we?

(its helpful to recall the “world citizens” concluded two decades ago that the proper way to go about world government was to start by creating super states and then later blocking them together.)

EXACTLY ! NAFTA was sold to us on that basis. WE got SCREWED.
MEXICO needs to fix its own problems but it won’t. WHy should they? Their corrupt system works just FINE as long as the USA is a CO_DEPENDENT/ enabler in the scheme.
