It’s pretty annoying when you can’t even go in your own backyard in peace. It makes you a prisoner in your own home.

Isn’t there something that could be done legally? Noise ordinance or something?

I hate to see it take a mauling to get something done. It always bugged me that problems like that cannot be dealt with until someone gets hurt.

Vick’s case pretty much demonstrates what these dogs are primarily used for. It is irrational to assume pit bulls in your vicinity are safe for you, your kids, your pets.

Even what used to be good dogs, like Cocker Spaniels, have been known to get nasty from too much inbreeding.

So often it seems that a breed is destroyed by poor breeding once it becomes popular. Cocker spaniels, I think, were nearly destroyed as a breed from poor breeding after their popularity soared as the result of "Lady and the Tramp." After "101 Dalmatians," you had a lot of people running out to buy Dalmatians, then ending up turning them in to shelters. I suspect you now have a lot of poorly bred Chihuahuas as a result of their increased media exposure.

Wonder if you could find out who their insurance carrier is? They aren't renters, are they? So many pit owners are low lifes of no means to speak of...

We get enough crap from the media, I'd like to think we know better here. Following the link for the smaller picture back to its source I find no reference to that being a "pit bull" bite. I am unable to trace the link for the large pic back to its source so breed/type is indeterminate.

All dog bites are serious, some of course more so than others, and virtually all are preventable.
Here's one...

I think many breeds of dog can attack for no reason, but certain breeds inflict more damage because they were bred to fight and kill.

If a chihuahua goes beserk and attacks you a swift slap to the head will break its neck end of story, yet with a pitbull even a gunshot won't keep it down.

I'm aware some don't insure pits and rotts--but all insurers need to do this, and it needs to be publicized, so that every person who owns one of these dogs is aware he is not insured, and everyone who sees the dogs knows the owner is not insured.

I would agree a law is needed that ALL dogs found running loose should be killed, at least after the second time they are caught. Owners can have one freebie. But the law(s) should be local only. And wanting such laws does not make one a liberal. It just makes one sick and tired of people who have no sense of responsibility for their pets.

#1, I was responding to a poster who claimed that only cats and foxes don’t like Jack Russell Terriers. I am not a cat or a fox, and do not like the breed in question. See post #25.

Irrelevant as to the breed - the point being dog bites are especially disfiguring, and pit bulls are the number one biters. There are only three types of injury routinely defined as emergencies in plastic surgery: Cold hand, gunshot wound to the face and dog bite to the face

Bullsh!t. Unless you mean preventable by preemptive killing of the dogs. According to the plasticsurgery4u.com site 94% of dog bites are UNPROVOKED. That means not preventable to me.

You need to go back to reading comprehension class because some of the "dogs can do no wrong" posters on this thread need a wake up call. Frankly I think anyone whose screen name is "luvmypitt" just might take a dog over a child. I was on a thread the other day with some silly woman who said that no punishment was too severe for M Vick for his involvement in dog fighting. I told her to develop a sense of proportion, and the whinney b***h nattered on endlessly how dogs were better than people, and how I was basically a sh!t for not thinking so too. So I'd say that some of the posters here would love their dog more than their kids. At least that idiot would. I'd ping her, but I don't remember her name, and she isn't worth the trouble of looking back to see.
