We’ve known this—the CIA’s failure to track the two hijackers—since Septermber 12.

Tenet’s absurdly self-serving book that blamed everyone but himself makes me despise him even more. He really should have gone to jail for criminal negligence.

Gen. Michael V. Hayden, the current C.I.A. director, and his predecessor, Porter J. Goss, have declined to seek disciplinary action against Mr. Tenet and others named in the report.

Oh, why bother. The bureaucrats reign supreme.

Tenet was doing his usual “dodge and weave” to try and excuse his sorry ass.

I don’t know how this 9-11 stuff ever got by super-secret, “covert,” secret agent Valerie Plame. After listening to what the DemocRATS say about her, one would think she would have picked up on it before 9-11.

The report cited the C.I.A.’s failure to pass intelligence about Mr. Mihdhar and Mr. Hamzi to other agencies as potentially significant. The C.I.A. had identified the men in January 2000 when they visited Malaysia, but never notified the State Department to put them on the terrorist watch list.

Others throughout the 1990s and into the 2000s failed to act not just CIA personnel.

Peter Lance's book, TRIPLE CROSS: How bin Laden’s Master Spy Penetrated the CIA, the Green Berets, and the FBI - and Why Patrick Fitzgerald Failed to Stop Him, names them.

He has the best explanation why 9/11 happened: virtually all personnel in key positions were busy covering their butts for one goof-up after another. Simple as that as best I can understand it from his interviews. I've heard several including a couple of three-hour interviews.

Some terrorist connections were ignored because to act on them would jeopardize other cases. LE personnel who pushed the terrorist threat too hard were screwed. Lots of actionable shenanigans IMO.

I did not buy the book, Mr. Lance in his interviews was too quick to blame "Bush 1" and "Bush 2" while, when pressed, acknowledging that "President Clinton" is partly to blame.

Nevertheless, Mr. Lance documents events throughout the 1990s that were practically screaming, "Hey! over here, over here!" But alas. . . .

TA-DAH!

You now see why I USED to be worried about big brother, But I am not now. If you work in the Gubbement you not only dont have to worry about screwing up.... if you screw up big enough they will promote you to cover up your screw ups.

The Malaysia terrorist summit is where the planning took place for the USS Cole bombing and 9/11.

Well, the whole report is crap and the CIA’s Inspector General has his head up his arse. The little creep should be fired for his incompetence. His little report does NOT reflect the realities of how it was before 9/11 and now.

Number one, for the departments to work together as they should at the time, some major changes would have to have been made which Bush only was able to make them AFTER 9/11 happened and people finally figured out Gorelick’s wall wasn’t such a hot idea after all.

These agencies still are not talking as they should though better than they once were.

Everyone seems to forget what is still happening even today, after 9/11. You get some Arab guys taking flying lessons and if someone complain, your called a racist. Oh no! We can’t profile. Bad bad bad bad!

Even today every time Bush takes a measure to protect this country and people starts screaming and having hearings and wanting to impeach someone.

So people knew of a couple “possible terrorists” eh? Before 9/11? You drag them in for questioning, then what? You might be able to ask them some questions which they’ll probably have some nice answers I’m sure. But then you’d have to let them go or have the ACLU down around your ears and big arsed articles written in the New York Times talking about civil liberties and racism.

You couldn’t ask them with intent of getting answers or someone will be screaming torture. Just how are these agencies suppose to do their jobs? Hell.... you can’t even listen to their phone calls without a ton of paper work and just how long does these guys phone calls suppose to last before you get every T crossed and every I dotted?

It’s still really bad out there to get anything done and it was worse yet before 9/11. Just what drugs is Helgerson on anyway? What good does it to “be held accountable”? What does THAT mean anyway? What possible good does it do us now? Shouldn’t we be frigging be looking forward and not backwards?

If you really want to hold people “accountable”, you need to go back decades and not just since January 2001. It took decades for these nandy pandy liberals to tear down our defenses to where they were just before 9/11 so it would be so easy to get attacked..... the same that the liberals are working so hard to achieve today. They want it all to be like it was pre-9/11.

The so called “Inspector General” should be relieved of his duties and he should pick up a nice little job at Mcdonalds... but even THEN he’d get your order wrong he’s so inept!
