My husband says we should invade Mexico and make it a state.

At the end of the Mexican War that would ahve been the kindest thing we could have done.

That isn't a new idea. Look up the Knights of the Golden Circle, William Walker, and the original meaning of "Filibuster".

As a matter of fact, one reason Fannin wasn't that interested in rescuing Travis at the Alamo was that he intended, as soon as he became general of the Texican Army, to march on Mexico City and make Mexico either a slave holding US territory, or an independent, slave holding country with him in charge.

Respectfully, has your husband considered the expansion of welfare programs that would entail? As well the loss of control of our own political destiny? A new study from the Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR) examines the costs of education, health care and incarceration of illegal aliens, and concludes that the costs to Californians is $10.5 billion per year. on folks who shouldn't even be here.

These same folks are amassing more political power than the locals. Squeaky wheel and all that. They are becoming our masters.

Regards

Great idea. Six more states full of Democrat/Socialists and permanent Democrat domination of the US.

You’re husband is absolutely correct: Mexico is a failure. That they are blessed with astounding natural resources almost any other nation would be able to “raise the ship” with, Mexico is so corrupt that they’re privileged class are determined, even with self-destruction imminent in the form of mass revolt, to continue screwing the lesser-halves by telling them their duty is to invade the US and send as much money back as possible. What boggles me is that so many Mexicans here maintain loyalty to a government that depends on them as revenue generators while providing them absolutely nothing.

Maybe they’re onto something.
