Yes, this is yet another example of junk science. Stick some ‘evolution’ in your explanation and it will get published.
I have seen plenty of junk science in my time, but I would not put this in that category. The way I see it is that when you have a trait that is universal to women (or whatever demographic group) regardless of where they are in the world, it makes good sense that it has a biological basis.
