Yes, professionals have a white or black attitude towards Atkins. One thing she can do if she is set against atkins is restrick any carbs to complex carbs - only whole grains, no sweets, etc...
Canned tuna fish is a life saver for me.
The whole grains might not be a good recommendation. Especially if she is gluten intolerant. Never mind that most grains are loaded with starches that are completely unnecessary. Better to fill that calorie void with non-starchy vegetables. Lots more good nutrition.
