Very simple....we print the card tags with the disabilty on them.

What would that accomplish? The particular disability is nobody's business.

Print the handicapped tags with the car's license plate number on it. That would keep people from borrowing others' tags. Problem solved.

Me, my sister, my uncle and my aunt all take my Mom who has MS out shopping, Does she need 4 cards? How about if she goes out on vacation?

That’s a good idea. My placard has a number on it but it bears no relation to the license plate number.
One thing that people really abuse the placards for is free parking. Here in lovely downtown Sacramento, you get to park for free and as long as you want at parking meters if you have a tag and I can guarantee that they are getting abused.
Every 6 months or so the local TV station will accost people using the tags and it is amazing how many are using some else’s tags. Bad Karma man.

In my state, the tags are assigned to the person - not the vehicle. My wife has tags, and she's supposed to carry around registration in case she needs to prove that she is the user of the tags. So far, we have never had to produce the registration. In order to reduce the occurence of "borrowed" tags, I think there should be a printed picture of the users face on the placard itself.
