HONG KONG More than 100 radio stations in China that broadcast phone-in programs have been shut down indefinitely ahead of the 17th Communist Party Congress, a human rights watchdog said Monday. The Information Center for Human Rights and Democracy said in a statement that as many as 12 of the 17 radio stations in Nanjing have since Aug 8 been shut down.
The stations were taken off-air because they let members of the public talk about sex and supernatural issues during phone-in programs after midnight, the center said. A staffer at one of the 12 stations told Kyodo News their station has been off the air since Aug. 12 and she has no idea when broadcasting will resume.
Sounds like the Fairness Doctrine is alive and well in China.

âHi, this is Shensi for Jinghou, long time listener first time caller. What are we going to do about those Party hacks raking in all that Yuan?â
