Feds' Porn Ultimatum
NY Post ^ | August 19, 2007 | By JANON FISHER

Ron Jeremy, Jenna Jameson - get ready to stand and be counted.

The Department of Justice wants to come up with an official list of every porn star in America - and slap stiff penalties on producers who don't cooperate.

The new rules, proposed under the Adam Walsh Child Safety and Protection Act, would require blue-movie makers to keep photos, stage names, professional names, maiden names, aliases, nicknames and ages on file for the inspection of the department's Child Exploitation and Obscenity Section.

"The identity of every performer is critical to determining and ensuring that no performer is a minor," according to the new proposal.

The adult film industry plans to challenge the new rule as a violation of the First Amendment, said Paul Cambria, a lawyer for Hustler and other adult film companies.

He sees it as a way to harass legitimate stag-film producers.

"If they can't get you for obscenity, they'll get you for violating record-keeping," he said. Such a violation would carry a five-year penalty.

The proposed rule would require porn producers to give the title of the video or magazine, or the Web address where the actor appears.

The Department of Justice has shown some sensitivity for the performers' privacy, however. All information not essential to proving their age and identity, like phone numbers and addresses, can be withheld.

Distributors of foreign pornography aren't off the hook - they must still produce a copy of the foreign actor's identification card. The department estimates that there are 500,000 Web sites, 200 DVD producers and 5,000 businesses nationwide that would be subject to the new rule.

The ironic thing was one of the people on the committee who preached against the sins of porno was Father Bruce Ritter who was convicted of having sex with minors.

Ironic, and not.

I think this move is in reference to the human trafficking issue.

TESTIMONY OF ROSA, AGE 14

When I was fourteen, a man came to my parents' house in Veracruz, Mexico and asked me if I was interested in making money in the United States. He said I could make many times as much money doing the same things that I was doing in Mexico. At the time, I was working in a hotel cleaning rooms and I also helped around my house by watching my brothers and sisters. He said I would be in good hands, and would meet many other Mexican girls who had taken advantage of this great opportunity. My parents didn't want me to go, but I persuaded them.

A week later, I was smuggled into the United States through Texas to Orlando, Florida. It was then the men told me that my employment would consist of having sex with men for money. I had never had sex before, and I had never imagined selling my body.

And so my nightmare began. Because I was a virgin, the men decided to initiate me by raping me again and again, to teach me how to have sex. Over the next three months, I was taken to a different trailer every 15 days. Every night I had to sleep in the same bed in which I had been forced to service customers all day.

I couldn't do anything to stop it. I wasn't allowed to go outside without a guard. Many of the bosses had guns. I was constantly afraid. One of the bosses carried me off to a hotel one night, where he raped me. I could do nothing to stop him.

Because I was so young, I was always in demand with the customers. It was awful. Although the men were supposed to wear condoms, some didn't, so eventually I became pregnant and was forced to have an abortion. They sent me back to the brothel almost immediately.

I cannot forget what has happened. I can't put it behind me. I find it nearly impossible to trust people. I still feel shame. I was a decent girl in Mexico. I used to go to church with my family. I only wish none of this had ever happened.

Those are NOT men who might comply with new federal record keeping laws.

And it will do about as much good in regard to that issue as child porn - NADA.

Reminds me of how the Dept. of Agriculture wants to tag every individual livestock animal. What’s up with the FED and their databases?

It is worse than that. That database is set up for international tracking. We are way past the feds on this. Animal Identification originated as a result of the United States making trade agreements with the European Union and WTO. So it is international tracking. And one database.

There's no right in the Constitution to produce obscene material.

It doesn't say that obscene material is forbidden either.

So-called moralists who parse the Constitution to fit their agenda are even worse than libs.

with all the the negative and totally addicting aspects of porn, there’s is no way it should be legal at all. The first ammendment has nothing to do with pornography. It is the freedom of speech and the press, not freedom to show ladies in a seductive and whoreish way which only leads to more abuse and looking at women as objects to satisfy a mans lust. Our constitution has been turned upside down to please people’s greed and selfishness, simple as that. And that is pleasing to the dark forces which love men to be weak and groveling for women’s attention.

“This is the one thing wrong with the conservative movement, they preach less government invasion unless it involves sex.”

We’re conservatives, not libertarians. I want moral laws enforced, including prostitution/porn, and drug laws, too.

Jenna looks ill.<<<<<<

I don’t know what this lady looks like except for another thread, which shows before and after plastic surgery photos of “celebrities”. She looks positively ill in the after photo, and I’d bet it’s due to a serious illness of some sort rather than plastic surgery, but who knows.

People on both sides of any issue (for and against) generally make up their minds in advance, and then cherry-pick what rights/laws/morals they want to invoke for an argument. That's today's politics.

Personally, I revert to the Constitution as a last resort. I think clear-spoken reason is something more powerful than all the Amendments.

But when I am losing an argument, I will occasionally scream "Rights!" and it seems to work OK.
