Ahmadinejad may visit Iraq

TEHRAN (Reuters) - Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has accepted an invitation to visit neighbouring Iraq, Iran's foreign minister said on Sunday, a move that would be unlikely to be welcomed by the United States.

Foreign Minister Manoucher Mottaki said Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki had invited Ahmadinejad after Maliki visited Tehran on August 8-9, but added a final decision had yet to be taken.

"When a definite decision about the trip is made, the timing will be announced to the public," Mottaki told reporters in the northeastern city of Mashhad, according to the ISNA news agency.

With Shi'ite Muslims now also in power in Baghdad, ties have strengthened between the two oil-rich states since 2003, when U.S. forces toppled Iraqi President Saddam Hussein, a Sunni Arab who waged an eight-year war against Shi'ite Iran in the 1980s.

The U.S. military accuses the Islamic Republic of arming and training militias behind some of the violence ravaging post-Saddam Iraq.

Iran rejects the charge and blames the presence of U.S. forces, numbering about 162,000, for the mayhem.

I've got a better idea. Send Nancy Pelosi to Iran to negotiate a proper surrender, instead.

Great.

We invaded a country to implement democracy who’s majority party will likely be an arm of the Iranians.

I am starting to believe that many Muslims don’t want freedom. They want Sharia Law, that certainly isn’t freedom. 75 percent of Muslims in Morocco, Egypt, and Pakistan want Sharia Law imposed.-from worldpublicopinion.org

I guess dhimmis would be damn, damn fools, or perhaps fools of the damn fools.

Ama-dama-ding-dong should be arrested by US forces for his part in the 1979 hostage taking in Iran.

I’m surprised Ahmadinejad is able to take time off from planning the monument the Iranians should be building to George W. Bush. After all, if Bush hadn’t invaded Iraq they’d still have an adversary in Baghdad instead of an ally and their dream of a Shia Crescent would still be a long way from reality.

Quiet you all that talk is defeatist! not only will the new Iraq be a shining beacon on the hill for the whole middle east with all the oil there this thing will practically pay for itself! </s>

Seriously, the Iranians are better off strategically after our moves in the region despite what people may assume is a grand movement to surround them (Afghanistan and Iraq) its actually just playing right into their hands. all they plan for is unconventional warfare and in situations like we see in Iraq their operatives know all the tricks as long as china and Russia keep giving diplomatic cover Iran will come out a winner in all this.

You need to get this information out as quickly as possible. There are some guys from Iran’s elite Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps that have been captured by U.S. and Iraqi forces recently. They are currently being held by these forces. You need to let them know that they are now in a better strategic position. I think you can e-mail the embassy at baghdadpressoffice@state.gov.

That’s what I was thinking - an IED would do wonders for his insane disposition.
