More than two years after enraging right-wing groups by ordering Terry Schiavo's feeding tube removed, George Greer still peers over his shoulder nervously at times.
In fact, the Florida judge told a rapt audience Friday at the American Bar Association's annual meeting, he even used an alias when he registered at his San Francisco hotel on this trip.
Two years ago, he said, someone in the Bay Area threatened to kill him over his decision to end life support for the brain-damaged Schiavo. And even though that person was prosecuted and jailed, Greer said, he's taking no chances.
"It is a little unnerving," he said. "I still can't see a strange car come down my street without wondering [who's behind the steering wheel]."
Greer talked about he and his wife had to be placed under 24-hour watch after Operation Rescue posted their home address and phone number on its Web site. All of their mail was checked by authorities and on one occasion dead flowers were delivered to their condominium with a note reading, "No Food, No Water" a reference to Schiavo.
"It got to the point," Greer said, "that we felt a little trapped in our apartment."
FURTHER, Judge Greer would not permit Robert Melton to audit the Pinellas-Pasco guardianship trust accts. EXPLOITING WARDS IS BIG BUSINESS IN FLORIDA and sanctioned by sleezy judges like Greer.

Mercy Killing or euthanasia not authorized. (1) Nothing in this chapter shall be construed to condone, authorize, or approve mercy killing or euthanasia, or to permit any affirmative or deliberate act or omission to end life other than to permit the natural process of dying.
IT WAS A FELONY MURDER

all probably true and yet he still has job security.
AND on top of this Florida judges want to go to merit retention so a committee selects who is going to be a judge (actually their multiple choice candidates the governor has to pick from) AND THEN judges are up for only retention votes ala the appelate judges (WHO NEVER have lost a retention vote)
Incredible that so far Greer has been getting away with breaking the law repeatedly. He must feel like he like a dictator in a Banana Republic.
That’s the only way Greer would have been elected in Pinellas Co. Lots more Repubs/RINOs than Dems.

Let's see if the Fla Ethics Panel is going to exonerate Jim Smith as well. Talk about a crook and this crooked property appraisor just sent out TRIM NOTICES. He raised everybody's property values while the market is sinking but sold his land for FOUR TIMES IT'S ASSESSED VALUE.
MEDIA OUTSIDE OF FLORIDA, PLEASE INVESTIGATE PROPERTY APPRAISOR JIM SMITH. He's more proof of the corruption that is PINELLAS COUNTY and it's more proof that TERRI was killed by corruption.
Merit retention? LOL Judges like Greer have no merit. They are like the worst janitor in the worst school. The worst. Nothing against janitors but the worst janitor.
And, back to GREER. Here's plenty of documentation that Terri was murderd and robbed too by the man in the "little apartment".

We ought to all be clear that, whatever other feelings we have, Freepers do not in any way support or approve of threats and/or violence against American judges.
Why even mention support or approve of threats against judges? As far as I know, we never threatened the idiot judge here at FR. The rules are: no violent, racist or obscene posts. Besides, Greer is a small potato who was used, used, used. The fact that Greer is beginning to realize that he is dubbed a murderer of innocent disabled people forever because he was used is his rude awakening. Many lives were ruined when they killed TERRI - even Judge Greer’s, his wife’s and his little dog’s too.
>>Why even mention support or approve of threats against judges?<<
Because the article about threats against judges?
Terri didn't die in vain. We now know what a major agenda euthanasia is, a cousin of abortion. Being against euthanasia should be part of the GOP Platform. Pro-Life is not specific enough for the GOP Platform. Abortion and euthanasia are both murder and deserve equal time from the so called pro-life party.
If the GOP wants to win elections again, they better mean it about being pro-life.
If the U.S. leadership embraces a culture of death, are we than no better than the forces we are fighting around the world?
Yeah, but not in context with how freepers have been supporting Terri’s fight and now the anti-euthanasia movement. Millions of Terri supporters didn’t threaten J. Greer. He’s just a paranoid patsy who unfortunately, can kill seniors and disabled people with his pen. He’s the threat, the threat of judicial tyranny.
I believe you misunderstood the intent of the article. The article was written by Cal Law (California's legal news source), and highlights several judges who made controversial decions that weren't popular with many people. The post does not imply in any way that people should respond to judges with theats.
HERE IS WHERE IT ALL BEGAN AT FREE REPUBLIC TO SAVE TERRI'S LIFE AT FREE REPUBLIC. Thank you for this thread, ragtime cowgirl. We had no idea Terri's Fight would take us on a journey that would change many of our lives forever.

Typo: AUGUST 28, 2003, not the 8th.oops
I saw a piece on CNN this morning about how the 9 nursing home deaths (during Katrina) were ALL homicides but the DA and the grand jury don’t care. Nine people died by over-dose of morphine and some other drug. It was premeditated and carried out by a doctor and two nurses (at least).
The dead are getting the same kind of “justice” that Terri got which is no justice at all. Excuses for murder.
I know that Terri did not die in vain and I hope those nine nursing home living breathing human beings did not die in vain.
