Eco-Warriors To Take 'Direct Action'

Updated: 20:22, Saturday August 18, 2007 Climate campaigners are warning of a "day of direct action" against Heathrow airport on Sunday. Protesters 'too busy' for peace talks Protesters 'too busy' for peace talks

Protesters, buoyed by an influx of new arrivals, promised 24 hours of disruption, starting from midday.

It comes as travellers heading for the Caribbean are already facing delays due to the gathering pace of Hurricane Dean.

And it follows an unsuccessful call on Saturday from a group of airline pilots for "peace talks" aimed at averting disorder.

The pilots said debating the environmental issues of flying was more productive than direct action but the members of the climate change camp set up outside London's largest airport said they were too busy planning their "civil disobedience" to take part.

Captain Mervyn Granshaw, chairman of the British Airline Pilots' Association (Balpa) said a recent report had shown that aircrafts were minor pollutants and that air travel was not the fastest growing source of emissions.

"The eco-warriors and some environmental groups disagree," he said. "We would like to meet them to try to reach a consensus, to have an informed debate."

He added that "peace talks should be held as soon as possible".

I hope the bobbies beat them down with sticks if they disrupt travelers.

I don’t know about Britain, but here in the states- if you pull intentionally disruptive shenanigans at an airport, you’re going to jail. And not on a catch-and-release basis, either.

Hmm, I don't know how reliable "The Hindu" is, but it lists some of the tactics that this group has in mind, including leaving suspicious packages lying around in an attempt to disrupt operations.
Read here.
Also, this article says they're planning to take on the Royal Bank of Scotland next.

Their first mistake. Never negotiate with terrorists, you have now validated their method of terror. Anytime they demand anything they will threaten to do violence. You are now their B_tch.

Better yet, tell them you will personally kill this animal, or this many trees for every dollar that is spent recovering from their acts.

Eco-Warriors To Take 'Direct Action'

That's nice, they're going to work on developing an affordable, efficient source of energy that is cleaner on the air we breathe, cuts our dependence on foreign energy, and reduces the emissions of so-called greenhouse gases.

Oh, by 'direct action' they mean they will all travel to one place to play drums, chant mindless rhymes, and throw their empty beer bottles on the ground. Never mind.

No petroleum, no natural gas, no coal, no electricity, no nuclear, ethanol depletes our soil, solar spoils natural landscapes, wood destroys old-growth forests, and wind kills birds. It would be nice if one day they would direct their 'direct action' at getting something directly achieved, instead of just getting directly in the way of useful folks.
