I do not believe in a government conspericy; however, I do believe of individual bias. I assume that you have read the report on NASA and Global warming that was recently refuted.
In an initial report, the mine owner reported that a siezemec event occured at 5400 feet and gave the coordinates.
Do we have any bloggers that can look back at the first report and pull public data?I do not believe in a government conspiracy; however, I do believe that individual in charge of certain reports have a bias. I assume that you have read the report on NASA and Global warming that was recently refuted.
In an initial report, the mine owner reported that a seismic event occurred at 5400 feet and gave the coordinates, where did he get this specific information?

Sure looks like OnTap and Carrie_Okie must be personal acquaintenances of you.
Are you sure you don’t work for UMW or maybe Fox News?
What's up with that?
Just asking.
Like any group or organization, the US Government has good people and bad people. To believe that an orchestrated conspiracy is ongoing relative to the Utah mine disaster is absolutely ridiculous.
Here is the university of Utah seismic website. They have been saying they cannot rule out an earthquake altho they highly doubt it.
The charts do show seismic activity predating the mine event.
Well, that proves a conspiracy, doesn’t it (/barf on keyboard). Where, oh where, do you people come from?
What? Is there a full moon or was there a release at the local asylum? You people are seriously nuts.
No, it does prove that some of the people upon whom the media rely are less than reliable. It also demonstrates that there is cause for legitimate disagreement as to the source of the collapse, for which we'll have to wait for a reliable explanation.
Given that disagreement, it also proves that you are posting in an incontinent and petulant manner. It is disparaging to FreeRepublic and the respectful discourse for which it stands.
The hole...It’s only known natural enemy is the pile.
Great word!
Like I said, "Your answer reveals a lot about you."
I’m not a coal miner or a mine owner, but I work in the industry and have close associations with MSHA, so my bias may show, although I believe I have more understanding of coal mining than average Joe Sixpack who gets his expertise from sound-bites on the idiot box.
IMHO, and that’s all it is, both the media and certain university “scientists” and “experts” were a little too quick to declare that the first seismic event was a result of the cave in and not vice versa. I’d be interested to know if these are the same experts that trumpet global warming “science” agenda and hate the coal industry with mouth-foaming passion.
MSHA have made no call on why either cave in happened and likely won’t for many months until they’ve reviewed all the data and circumstances. Despite their professionalism, MSHA has made a big mistake by suspending underground rescue operations and you can be sure the coal-hating global warming loonies are in ecstasy over the decision.
Seismic events are all-too common as this topic illustrates. It’s a safe bet this most recent quake, hundreds of miles away, wasn’t caused by the cave-in. If it becomes MSHA policy to bail on rescue operations whenever the ground shifts, no one in their right mind will ever journey into a coal mine. Perhaps it’s just my military training that compels me to believe that we don’t leave our brothers behind to save our own hides - but, that’s how I feel, and abandoning the rescue attempts has catastrophic implications to the future of mining.
Just my 2¢
Thanks for your information. It seems I opened up a can of worms here. Your point is exactly what I was alluding to in my post. Coal mining is not PC so it has been my experience that like Global Warming certain people who should know better tend to make statements that are later revised. NASA has been nailed for some sketchy data they were using and climatologist who don’t tow the party line are harassed so it would come as no surprise to find out that a seismologist rushed to judgment about the cause of a collapse. At any rate it is not worth taking a lashing from the thread nazi.
Thanks for coming to my defense I had no idea the post would arouse an ad homonym attack.
Self righteous. I like it! Does it also support the claim of a conspiracy, which is what this is all about?
Yes, you’re right. It says a lot about me. It also says that you are too cowardly to even say what you think even with the apparent anonymity of the internet. “Your answer reveals a lot about you”. Very deep and shakes me to the core. Geezus.
I prefer to examine data before forming a full opinion, for which I don't have time here. Lacking that, I have confidence in my friend, a Utah mining geologist with forty years experience, who offered an alternative hypothesis with supporting data, and who stated flatly that the Richter magnitude of the event is far beyond that of a mining collapse. So, my predisposition is to believe it likely that the source of the event was seismic, but I don't have a final opinion. I do know for certain that the "expert" Fox News presented offered "facts," so basic and so erroneous as to render his opinion highly suspect. I have said nothing about a "conspiracy," only that said "expert" is rendered incompetent by his own words.
Neither do I even presume anonymity, seeing as my page here links my site with my name on it. That you were too lazy to check, which speaks volumes about the integrity and technical validity of your opinion in this instance.
Frankly, in my judgment, your tone on this thread constitutes an abuse of this forum.
Ping.
I didn’t post anything about anonymity to you! It was to another poster. Again, this whole conversation was directed at someone who claimed that the Government is covering up the quake for some reason. You decided to jump in with anecdotal evidence, which does nothing to lead me to believe in a conspiracy.
"... this whole conversation was directed at someone who claimed that the Government is covering up the quake..."You are the only one using the term Government cover-up and you've used it more than once. You are the only one calling others stupid and idiots. Maybe you have a comprehension problem to go with your lack of social skills?
