I certainly do NOT wish Any evil on Tony Snow, He's a very temperate and sound-principled man.
I'm just giving my preference between 2 evils that could be the real reason.

Tony Snow said Friday he’ll leave sometime before the end of the Bush presidency because of financial pressures.In light of what the man is going through in respect to his health and providing for the future of his family, it is entirely beleivable.
Remember, there are ethics restrictions on what he can do for income. That is true for any administration official. In his case, government service really was a sacrifice. Those restrictions are not in effect once he's again in the private sector.

God Bless Tony Snow! He will have precious time with his family which will be a blessing to his wife and children. He will be free from the stress of his frustrating position as Press Secretary. He will have time to write a book to tell all of us about what is real and true and irreplaceable in life; teach us how to cope, in grave illness, with hope and faith in our hearts; and leave a grand legacy for his family and friends.
